Just playing catch-up reading my Autosport Magazines and came across a most interesting article.

Maserati looks certain to replace the MC12 with a new GT1 racer within the next two years. This one will be eligible for the Le Mans 24 Hour - a race that Maserati wants to contest. I think it would be perfect timing to bring one out in 2007 to celebrate the 75th Le Mans 24 Hour race! - although they are looking at 2008 before they'd start racing the car, they stated perhaps they could do something in the second part of '07 (June's close enough!).

The project in Bologna is focused on a GT1 version of next year's V8 Coupe GT model. The new GT1 racer would be more like the DBR9 or 550 Maranello. The "artist's impression" is really neat and does favor the DBR9 in many ways except for the side rear window design.

Can't wait to see what transpires over time . . .

    Carol
