I live in Richmond Virginia (Just moved) and word on the street is, 'everyone' uses Ferrari of Washington. It's time for an oil change and I'm not sure putting all those miles on it are worth it...anyone know of a Ferrari mechanic closer to home?
Also...they quoted me $175, which didn't surprise me..... but I asked about Synching the carbs while i was there....which they said to allow 8 hours for, and $1,000 ....is that realistic? Car runs fine...no issues....but I have heard to get them synched up once a year...... (I have 1 78' 308 GTS)
    thanks!

You might want to call Delta V motors, located over close to the Diamond where the Braves play. They do great work on my 911. I just puchased a 575 this weekend, and they had told me they are familiar with normal up keep stuff. Matter of fact I believe they to the work on a 360 challenge for a local customer who tracks it. Ask for Jeff the owner, great guy, I believe he is actually a grad from MIT.

pretty much any competent mechanic can do an oil change for you. in fact, you could easily do it yourself if you want to. as far as syncing the carbs, to do that properly i think you need a specialized equipment. i forget what it's called though.

If the car runs fine the carbs don't need to be synchronized. I'm going on 3 years without touching them.

Translated from the Italian, Webber means "never touch"

gotta wonder about that $175 price. seems low. hour labor, $25 filter, only leaves $25 for oil. doesn't sound right.

I would second that. I have also heard positive comments about Delta V (Although I have never taken my car there). They work on sports cars and race cars, and I have heard they are reasonable.

Just to add to my previous post, the Delta V I speak of used to be located and shared a building with the Sportscar Workshop (also close to the Diamond, no affiliation, and I know nothing of their rep.) Sportscar workshop has a Testa, 355 and a couple 328s in their front lot right now. Delta V bought a bigger, and spotless building around the corner. Again, Delta V has always impressed me with the work on my german toy. By the way, I have no interest or affiliation with them, only a customer. Tell Jeff that Morgan told you, he knows me as that crazy lawyer guy.

I highly recommend Competizione up in Gaithersburg.

I just took my ferrari 355 their to get the convertible top fixed....FOW quoted 12k (replacement of the whole top), Richard and Fernando took care of it for $250.

Just one example of the honest good work they do.

    Their info is as follows:

    Competizione
    19211 Chennault Way
    Unit G
    Gaithersburg, MD 20879

I recently had the 30,000 mile/5 year "major" done to my 308 by Competizione. I'm extremely happy with the quality of the work and the way I was treated. Can't say enough good about them.

    +1

Richard told me that they will, on occasion, travel to Richmond to pick up cars assuming that the ammount of work needed would justify their travels. Granted, annual services and the likes probably won't warrent a trip down 95, but a 30K major might. Either way, they are excellent craftsmen, honest business men and true car nuts! I reccomend that if your travels bring you north you stop by just to see their shop.

I used them twice (for my BMW) and was pleased, but as I don't live in Richmond itself, I don't go by there everyday, and when I saw they weren't there anymore, I thought I'd lost my mechanic. I'm mighty pleased to hear the good news. Jeff is a most interesting person; I always enjoyed chatting with him. I don't think Delta V will work on your Ferrari.
I only very rarely saw an F-car at the Sportscar Workshop, but that was a few years ago.
