My wife Rachel and I have purchased a American 1972 Dino GTS "barn find" from the original owner (now 94 years old) with 28,000 miles chassis number 04000 that has not moved for over 25 or started for at least 10 years. It is red with a black interior. It appears to be stock with the exception of a Ferrari badge on the bonnet and script above the rear license plate as well as what I would call a "nerf" bar between the front bumpers. Remarkably, it is in excellent cosmetic condition; however the mechanicals are obviously unknown and it was stored without the removal of any fluids. It is a time capsule so we will perform a sympathetic mechanical renovation to make it safe and reliable to drive. Currently we've detailed the exterior and interior, most significantly conditioning the leather (original). Next step is to to clean the undercarriage (there appears only to be dirt/dust and spiderwebs with minimal surface rust). We are missing only the manuals and documentation but hope the seller will be able to find all records once she is able to go through her files and cupboards; she's a good friend so we will be able to help so we're cautiously optimistic that our search will be successful. At some future point we'll get it to a mechanic to get a needs assessment performed and implemented well before trying to turn over the engine. Many thanks to Mike Sheehan who didn't know or charge us but was of significant assistance during our purchase and will help us get this Dino back on the road.
