Whoa, Imperial83, this one is for you! ....and before you go lashing out at the Minardi team, read what they offer: Stuff from your most beloved driver!
Cool, thanks for the heads up! I will see what I can afford, but I doubt it will be anything Why does Minardi have so much non-Minardi stuff? Like the Benetton headers, BAR F1 cars, Tyrell, Arrows parts, etc?
Good question. I read an article about the auction and it showed Stoddart's collection, which is worth being displayed in a museum. I guess he was always somewhat of a collector and also he bought up other teams leftovers (e.g. Arrows) for peanuts.
Hmm, I find it odd that he would sell this much stuff from his personal collection for reasons other then future financial requirements in F1. I think it would be cool to have the 1999 BAR 555 car, but I doubt I could buy it unless there was no reserve and I was the only bidder. What kind of stuff do you think could be had for maybe $4-600? I think a nose piece would be a cool thing to have.
Possibly. But then again for that amount of $$$ you can buy some authentic Ferrari F1 stuff at the gift shop opposite to the factory.
There are also numerous pit crew suits - I purchased one last time around and find it great for go-karting and track days.
The auction is going on as I speak, but here are the results for the cars and engines. So far it's been the cars/engines for Day 1 and the rest has been clothing. Unfortunately, I wasn't awake at 5:30 EST to see how much the race suits were going for. Tomorrow, more cars will be auctioned off. Here's the link for the car/engine lot number descriptions: http://www.bachellp.com/plantandmachinery2005A51673KMinardiProvCatDay1Vehicles.asp Prices in USD. 5000 - $90k 5001 - $72k 5002 - $54k 5003 - $90k 5004 - $142,200 (said the engine alone was $130k) 5005 - $130,500 (said the engine was $125k) 5006 - $45k 5007 - $54,360 5008 - $72,000 5009 - $55,800 5010 - $108,000 5011 - $64,800 5012 - $35,100 Engines: 5013 - $22,500 5014 - $36,000 5015 - $27,500 5016 - $36,000 5017 - $9,900 The last lot was a show engine and was auctioned by Robert Doornbos. Paul Stoddart did the car auctioning.
THE BARKING AUSSIE DINGO is leaving F1! The best thing to happen to F1 in 2005. I do not care if the DINGO wants to auction off his soul. Good riddance.
