I would like to get everyone's thoughts on my idea to provide mobile service for Fcar owner's through out NE. The mechanic would come to the client's garage to perform routine maintenance and repairs. If the garage were well equipped??? Your thoughts, Please!

There are lots of independent mechanics in Houston that do this, the problem is finding one you can trust. Doesn't hurt to have one that’s well equipped with the proper tools, I had a guy that I was giving small sublet jobs to (the Gypsy Mechanic) that never had the correct tools, tried to over charge me, & botched plenty of fairly easy jobs. Let’s just say I had to send him on his way.

Four Jack stands and a jack can get most things done. Some guys are now building garages as nice as their house, many with lifts. Last month I went to a house in NJ and the owner had an incredible garage with a linoleum floor, a lift, and a fully stocked Snap On tool chest!! His wife wasn't bad either!

    Two questions:
    1) was the wife "fully stocked" also
    2) do you know anyone in Florida that can offer the same service?

Overall, I think it is a great concept. The wife part sounds great also.

This guy is so good that right now he is doing the belt service on my 360. He lives in NH and I live in FL. Go figure!

There is a Mobile Mechanic is Burlington that has a big box truck (smaller than an 18 wheeler) but the interesting thing is he can drive cars in the back and the sides expand. I'm also told he has a way to raise the car (maybe you drive it onto ramps) which allows him to do work on the underside.
