Has anyone here been to David Chang's Momofuku? Was it as good as they say?
He's expanded it again, as well as having added more Milk Bars to his bakery chain, so my guess is he's no longer kicking butt in the kitchen all night, every night. Nonetheless, it's still considered to be one of the best restaurants around. (Pork and lard in everything is a hard formula to screw up too badly.)
ummm...who says its that great? I've eaten there several times and do really enjoy it for what it is...which is casual and tasty, but not out of this world, make-a-special-trip great. OTOH, Ko was fun and unique (lunch is better than dinner here IMHO)...and I do think David is a great talent...give it a try and let us know what you think...
I've been there maybe 4-5 times and have never seen him there cooking (he's been cruising around and such but not in the kitchen)....he is such a unique chef, I'm always looking forward to his next thing...makes me want to live in NYC rather than just travel there to maintain my gut 3x per year
I've been several times. Its good but nothing amazing or even that memorable. They also have alot of rules/attitude there but due to the demand for seats can get away with it for now. I can't say its anything i'd go out of my way for on a trip to the city though. Other options i'd hit up long before.
He has made the top 10 restaurant list from numerous writers, Anthony Bourdain say's he's great in his new book...
