Montana Enzo???

Anyone know who owns an Enzo in Montana??

It may only be registered in Montana. There's a few local cars here that are registered out of Montana for tax purposes. Just a thought.

That Enzo appears to be registered in county 7, which is Flathead County (Kalispell, Montana). Check out this F-chat thread for pictures of a red Enzo which resides in the Denver area, but has Montana plates from county 4, which is Missoula County (Missoula, Montana). Another forum in which I post has a spotters' thread where a Louisiana member spotted an Aston-Martin V8 Vantage with Montana plates, and a thread somewhere on this site shows a car show in south Florida which included a Lamborghini Gallardo with Montana plates. I'd be surprised if any of these vehicles have ever seen Montana.

Due to Montana's lack of sales tax, lots of things get registered there. The city/county where I live (Denver, Colorado) has a 7.2% sales tax. Purchasing an Enzo at list price (~$650,000) back when it first came out would've resulted in a $46,800 sales tax bill upon registration - since Enzo values have doubled since then, figure around $90,000 today. $90,000 for a license plate. Honestly, it would be cheaper to buy a small plot of land in the middle of nowhere in Montana and register all of your vehicles there than it would be to register the car in your home state, whichever that may be. Of course, that would be tax evasion - but it would be cheaper.

For the record, I'm not saying the people who are doing this are tax evaders. They probably have a vacation home or something similar in Montana and registered their vehicles there - which is legal. But, I'm providing an explanation for why some people claim that Montana has more Ferraris per capita than any other state.

 

Yes, although in 1998 a Montana State Trooper ticketed a guy in a V8 Camaro for doing 85 in the "no speed limit" zone, and upon appeal (all the way to the Montana Supreme Court) the ticket was thrown out and the courts mandated the implementation of a speed limit. It's been 75 ever since.

 

That Enzo is not in Montana, nor does it any longer belong to the person who registered it in Montana. It now belongs to fellow FerrariChat member, Ali Haas.

 

That Enzo looks like its about to fall off the ramp.
