Murcielago Unsafe?

Addendum of 08/19/2006:
Yesterday I witnessed another strange incident with a 40th Anniversary Lamborghini Murcielago. A buddy and me were on our way to Kerpen to the Michael-Schumacher-Kart-Track when the car suddenly lost power and few seconds later huge fire and thick fumes came from the engine and the exhaust. The car was less than 9 months old!

A 40 th anniversary car cant be 9 month in August 2006..

 

it is only unsafe when you give it to unmature drivers which is a high percentage of lambo drivers. no offence ..... many drive lambos for looks, then the speed but most drivers are knowingly they cant handle the speed. (wording is weird lol)

 

Maybe it is unsafe, considering all of these these incidents. Also, Balboni, an experienced driver, has crashed three Murcielago LP640's before production even started.

 

...incorrect..."HE" only wrecked 1 car...

Why not? There is still one brand new one in the UK (or do you mean they were all made way more than 9 months before Aug 06?).

His use and misuse of the last accident on the page is enough to question his version of the supposed events that happened to him. DRIVER ERROR come to mind.

Anycar thats built for speed is unsafe.

Anycar or truck is unsafe period.

 

it says 9 months since its registration. he might not have been the first owner

 

The car might be untitled but its not a 9 months old car .

 

Just respect the car...just because you can afford one it doesn't mean you can handle 600+HP...some people have more balls than brains

Saw this website about a year ago. There was much ado about the aftermarket wheels putting the car in the wrong stance, incorrect camber, etc. As you can see in his pics the arm attached to the wheel sheared off completely imediately behind the spindle, where the wheel is attached. That is what caused him to wreck. Given the weight of this behemoth car and the strain of running at such high speed with the above criteria, the wheel sheared of the car.

While I too question the Murcielago's safety, in this particular case, i dont know if the manufacturer or Murcielago should be blamed.

 

Keep in mind that call crashes mentioned happened, not at a track, but on public roads.

Merci has a great safety record on a race track.

But to put 600+HP on a public road to race to drive far above and beyond the posted speed limit, is just in my opinion, unsafe and dangerous!!!

Big questions for both Merci and LP640 is ... how many of these have been crashed (wrecked) at a track!!! That is the real test.

Public roads have uneven surfaces, debris (dirt, trash, paper, oil spilled, etc), other drivers., etc.
