i have shared some of my scale RC models here in the past. Here is my latest. It is a 1/4 f104. A true labor of love. She is finished in .0003 aluminum individual panels. Each panel is burnished with all proper rivet placement. The landing gear is is exact replicas. The cockpit is correct. Power is a 77lb BF turbine from Germany.

Couple of small changes to main gear door mechanism then test flight. Probably in the next 4-6 weeks

That's AWESOME!!! Do all of the parts function as they do on the actual plane? Like all the control arm/strut/shock things on the landing gear? How close is your power/weight ratio compared to the actual plane?

Yes. Everything functions just like the real one. Tires rotate 90 degrees as they retract. Struts function. Brakes work. She is 74lbs wet. 2 1/2 plus gallons of jet a and 77 lbs of thrust. She will land 14 lbs lighter then take off.

Amazing, she is more like a drone now than a model. Fuel consumption sounds pretty much like the original, ie lots. Do the wing tanks carry fuel?

Utterly fabulous! F104 is my all time favourite jet and it looks at its absolute best in bare aluminium. Is your model from the Airworld kit? I have only seen videos of them and they are so realistic it is uncanny. Thanks so much for posting and PLEASE PLEASE post a film of a flying sequence.

Congratulations! I am green with envy.

    Mark.

What is the story on the original aircraft? She has the vertical stabilizer and rudder of a G or S model, but is in USAF markings. Test bird of some sort?

Sir, is that a miss print on the sheet thickness? .0003 would be literally be transparent. is this 0.032 perhaps? also did you use 3/32 AD rivets or A rivets or possibly 1097 rivets? amazing build, hats off to you sir from a fellow metal man

Bob- Affirmative, like that. The USAF never flew the big tail version operationally, but L-M sure sold a bunch of them. Unfortunately not the correct aircraft for the mission they performed.
