Ok, this is not about the racing of NASCAR, but rather, I have been invited to be a special guest of my "housemates" extra ticket to this weekend's race in Sonoma.

    I have accepted.

I have been to IRL, F1, Indy Lights, Toyota Atlantic, Cart/Champ, and even worked for a pit crew for the 24 hr of Daytona a few years back.

    But Nascar? In Sonoma?

What have I gotten in myself into?

I am bringing a camera to ruin the I like nice butts and I can not lie.... Thread since I figure nothing like that will be there.....

    At least they serve beer.

F1 women are far hotter than Nascar women. Your job if you choose to do so is get us some booty shots.

coming from a nascar fan(there goes any good reputation I would have ever built on here)...

things may be different out there but most of the races I have been to consist of a whole of beer guts, biker chicks, and budweiser. Lots of drinking and parties. This is not all the people but a big majority. The racing will be very different from F1. Not near as passing as a normal race but more than in a typical F1 race. There will be a lot more full course cautions, in nascar they dont lift the cars out of the sand but towed out. The racing will also be tighter, you will not see a 30 second lead. Pitting stategy(sp) will still be very important but very different(even more so than since the new tire rule(F1), mainly because they will pit at the same time alot. It should be a pretty good show, although I have never been a fan of nascar on road courses, they should stick to what they are good at.

I would love to have a thread about nascar but I think it would be pretty much a flame fest rather that a discussion.

But have fun, even if you hate it, hey they have beer.

I take it your parents weren't related prior to getting married? :D

I also grew up in Alabama and Tennessee and fall in the same group as you.

NASCAR = non athletic sport centered around rednecks

    pro-Nascar vs. anti-Nascar

    Auburn vs. Alabama

    Tennessee vs. Florida

    All part of the South.

    Perfect.

I found out this morning that one of my real redneck friends that lives in Turlock (if you don't know, don't worry) will be there. This is the guy that got DODGE tattooed on his arm, with a confederate flag. Guess I will be rooting for Chevy. Beer, Beer, Beer.

In Sonoma, will they be serving the rednecks wine instead?

Oh, and would it be safe to drive a Ferrari there?

Yummy. Nothing says class more then "wine in a box"

I'd leave the Ferrari at home with that group. They might think it was a fiero.

Oh, got to love F-chat, but so true. A few years back my dad and uncle made a video at our county fair called fair bodies. It was basically footage of fat rednecks (in another one of their natural environments) eating greasy fair food. Have fun at the race and don't forget your camera.

I'm not one to sit down and watch an entire Daytona 500 or Coca Cola 600. However, I have found the last fifty laps of any such race to be pretty exciting. I say, "Go with an open mind and have fun!" Racin,' regardless of type, is still cool.

Who knows? You may find you like it and will have something to watch on non-F1 weekends. Again, have fun. Dane

    So,

    The update.

    Great Race. Lots of Beer.

Too bad I didn't go. I went to a wedding last night and did not get in till 3am ish and my friend that drove me home from the wedding ended up taking my car, so my roommates never knew to wake me from my drunken state.

    Phewww.......Got out of that one....

well, a chevy won, lol... and it wasnt a bad race, nascar's road racing is like watching rednecks run a marathon, lol. nascar isnt as nearly redneck anymore, in terms of drivers as it used to be... the fans that GO to the races are the biggest rednecks ever though.
