Moved to Dallas last December and decided to rent for a year since we weren't probably staying here much longer. So I prepaid my rent for the entire year. Turns out my "landlord" never paid any of the mortgage payments so it's being auctioned off tomorrow morning at the courthouse.

Don't want to buy it for the following reasons:
    1. Probably moving back to Midland and will buy a house there
    2. Also buying a lot and starting to build our "dreamhome"
    3. Buying a completely separate house for a family member
    4. That's too many loans IMHO

So does anybody have or know of a "nice" place to rent until December close to town? (inside 635 - as close to the park cities as possible) Pretty Please

I could care less about the money I've lost - just want to have a safe place for my wife and I to live through the end of the year. Worst case sceanrio could send all our furniture and cars (gasp) to storage

Of course I would pay appropriately - not looking for freebies

Depending on what you are looking for...

There is a house off Forest and the Dallas North Tollway I looked at myself today.
5509 Northmoor 1950sq ft $1800 per month. Easy on/off to the tollway, nice area. I could give you the contact phone number if you want it.

You may also consider something in Montego Plaza ( Just North of Forest off Harvest Hill ) again , most of those would lease for 1650-2200. per month depending on location inside that loop. Quiet and polite neighborhood - some short term leases were open - at lease one I know of is $1800 per month - 2200sq foot 2 car garage, etc... My lease is up there in Sepetember, couldn't ask for a better location.

I had an apartment in West Village ( The Marquis ) for the past 7 months... puts you in the mix of things, I never had an issues with security or parking.. 2 bedroom, 2 bath - 1600 mth 1600 sq foot

Other than short term - is there anything else you are looking for?

I may be able to help if you are interested in something in the " W " too..

i think we're game for anything.... our biggest obstacle is convincing someone to do a 4mos lease. i was hoping someone on the off chance may have a house that is empty. we own a 3000sq ft home in West U in Houston that is empty right now and was hoping I could find the equivalent here.

i'm guessing he's referring to Addison...

new game plan....actually took a couple of hours off of work and went down to the public auction. that's a different type of person that hangs out there. alot of gum smacking, bubble blowing, talking on cell phones right in front of the auctioneer talking about getting wasted and trying to bang some chick - just no common courtesy. felt like i was amidst a bunch of vultures trying to capitalize on other's misfortune. guess if it's not them - it's the bank

anyways, after a lengthy conversation with my family's counsel, we've decided to be an ass and make them "evict" me. i'm still going to pay my monthly rent but to the bank's trustee instead of my old landlord. hopefully by the time they legally evict me, it'll be time to move anyways. there is also a case law study indicating that if the bank (after a foreclosure) accepts and deposits a rent check, it implies acceptance of the previous owner's lease - thus we get to stay without moving

i really hate to be that type of person but i'm left with no other option since i've been screwed

Imagine what an easy place this would be to live in if everybody were forthright and honest - guess we wouldn't have any attorneys or car dealers then ;)

I used to live in Midland, TX from 1996 til 2001, weird coincidence. Even weirder is that you are wanting a place to rent in my neighborhood. Try the Pavilion Townplace apartments between the McDonalds on Lovers Ln and the Tollway and the Inwood Theater. It's safe and inexpensive compared to Uptown (but still not cheap). If you hate dogs that aren't leashed, don't bother though. Nobody keeps their gigantic dogs on their leashes....

Send me a PM if you want more info, I don't want to post my personal details here.
