Another cool piece of NSX trivia:

For around 8,000,000 yen all-in (or about $75,000), the Honda factory in Japan will do a full nut & bolt restoration on your NSX to bring it back to factory fresh condition. They call it the NSX Refresh Plan: Honda | NSX | NSX Refresh Plan

They are currently improving their facilities for a re-opening in October, likely in anticipation of the influx of cars coming in as NSXs gain value.

It was 105 degrees on delivery day but I couldn't resist taking her for a drive - no drama and unlike certain supercars the A/C works flawlessly!

Nice way to appreciate the fact that the NSX was the first production car to feature an all-aluminium semi-monocoque chassis.

The first series-production Ferrari to use an all-aluminum chassis was the 360 in 1999, a decade after the NSX!

I can provide a bit more info on those photos and the refresh program as I visited the facility last October. There are 4 stages of refresh that you can do with varying price points. The more modest refresh involves replacing standard wearables with OEM parts and the final stage involves a complete repaint. Keep in mind that the original NSX factory has been decommissioned and now builds civics or accords, so all the work is done in a separate facility that is just down the road from the original factory. My take home is that you can probably get comparable work done in the U.S. but you won't get the little "refresh" label. Would save a bundle in shipping though.

In the first group photo (with the people in the white jumpsuits), the white haired gentleman on the left is Shigeru Uehara - development chief for the NSX and commonly coined as the father for both the NSX and the S2000. He is a wonderful man who radiates a zen like calm and focus about him. I had the pleasure of spending some time speaking with him in Japan. The shorter fellow with the white beard is the former (and one of the longest running) presidentof the NSX club of America and one of the most well regarded NSX gurus in the country. He is also the former mechanic for my car. The tall gentleman in the center is Hirofumi Tomiyoshi, the president of the NSX club of Japan. Hirofumi is a passionate owner of a NSX type R that he drives just about everywhere. He frequents US events and I will be seeing him this year in Orlando.

In the larger group photo, most of the individuals are NSX owners from Europe, US & Australia. The photo was taken at the 2010 NSX Fiesta (annual NSX event in Japan) where the NSX club of Japan organized a bus tour for a select number of international visitors to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the NSX. The trip was repeated in 2015 for the 25th anniversary of the NSX, but with a much smaller group.

I did recognize Mr. Shigeru Uehara; he signed the radio door cover on my S2000 at the S2000 Homecoming.
