As a kid, I used to build these Aurora models with my Dad. I recently got one off ebay. It was fun putting it together. The decals have yellowed over the years though....

Lou, I still build models and I have built some old ones that didn't have good decals. I am trying to hand paint the things that I need but it isn't easy. The 737. What a bad start this airplane had! I remember an anecdote about an airline pilot sitting on the ramp in another jet waiting to take off when an original 737 launched. As it went by he said over the radio, " Nice punt!" Shortly after that, Boeing launched an aggressive clean up of the 737 and look at it now. The ME 262 wing mounted type nacelles were the first to go and the strut/nacelle configuration took its place and then all sorts of improvements and tweaks followed. I have been involved in several Boeing " wake up calls" and seen several more and I have seen what this company can do when it is threatened. Lately it has been a bit slower than when it and I were younger.

Just as a suggestion, the model railroaders are now using ink-jet printers and decal paper to make new decals. Most of the RR custom decal makers have now gone out of the conventional decal business.

They even have a special ink-jet cartridge with ****e ink, I understand, to make that color of decal on clear.

The paper comes in sizes just like regular letter paper.

It might be possible to scan the old decals to get the image patterns for reproduction.

One of the first model kits that I ever had was Aurora's Pan Am 707, which my dad actually built while I watched! Ah, the good ole days......

I used to have a just over a meter long (1:25 I guess) 737-200 model of Dutch airline Transavia which my brother found on the attic of the Transavia hangar at Amsterdam/Schiphol Airport. I gave it away years ago to a Transavia captain who used to fly it and I hoped he could help me getting a F/O position at his airline........no luck for me though.

It was beautiful with open windows, working interior lighting etc....... Now I regret ever giving it away......:(

Sounds awesome! It would be nice to have today, but giving to him was a really nice and I'm sure he appreciates it to this day.

Appreciate? Not if the recipient just left it in the hangar attic...

Can your friend get it back for you?

Transavia left it in the hangar. The model is now shining in my friends house.
