Who has the oldest Ferrari that still enjoys a good ride here and there. I dont mean some garage queen that sees daylight between the garage and trailor but a true driver?

Just done a quick search. VIN#002C, built in 1947. The oldest ferrari in existence driven and owned by James Glickenhaus. Would this ferrari be priceless?? :) Good on him for still driving it by the way :p

Probably not the oldest, but I heard of some dude in New Orleans who owned an original 250 Testa Rossa and drove it to work. Probably before Katrina, though.

Possibly, but more likely, his T R was a complete recreation; many T R owners have commissioned authentic copies of their cars which are for daily use whereas the originals are salted away. Considering that there are @39 of these and each would trade hands for over 6 mil., the concept is sound.

These are not to be mistaken for "replicas" since even engines and drivetrains are totally created from blueprints. It is as if the factory made these as well. They are likely extremely costly, but not original.

No he didn't get the wooden F50. The 330trlm did survive Katrina w/o a scratch or water line though.

Jim Spiro's 330 TRI/LM (S/N 0808) was no recreation; it was the real thing... He paid a reported 6.5 million for the car and, very soon after, the value shot up to 8.5 million... Still, three or four times a week, Jim got in his 330 TRI/LM and drove it to work... When I met him a few years ago, I asked him if that was true... He said it absolutely was; since the car doesn't have a top, he has to watch the weather, but if it's a nice day, he drove it to work...

Yes, Glickenhaus' 002 C is the oldest Ferrari... It also happens to be the first Ferrari sold to a customer (Gabrielle Besana, January, 1948)... 002 C is believed to have came from 01 C...

Do a search in the Vintage Forum for '02C' for lots of info and photos of Jim's restoration

When I saw this thread, I thought you were talking about the oldest DRIVER! I remember a thread where one of the dealers here bought a 355 spyder from a guy in his 90s!

I'm pretty sure Gabriele is a male. My guess is that the female version would be Gabriella.

Gabriele & Soave Besana bought 002C and 004C.
