When I first started looking at Ferraris, I was at one place that also had a Rolls Royce convertible for something like $13,000. I was looking for a Ferrari so I was not interested even if it was a convertible. I do not know the year or condition.

Today I saw a picture of a Bentley.

I am not really interested in either, but I was wandering what do used Bentleys and Rolls Royces sell for (curious by nature). Also what are the maintenance costs compared to Ferraris?

it would be hard to compare the maintenance cost of a ferrari and a bently. Ferrari's are high performance sports cars that need to heavilly maintained. Bentleys are luxury cars designed to be shaufeur cars. They are much more used to higher milage. I dont think the maintenance would be even remotely similar. although i wouldn't really know first hand.

Like any low volume production car a Bentley or a Rolls can be just as expensive to operate as a Ferrari and sometimes even more so.

Prices will be all over the place and like Ferraris, inexpensive examples usually turn out to be anything but.

There are some odd mechanical bits that can be quite expensive to repair. Does my memory serve me correct in thinking RR and B produced a few year span of cars with a mineral oil fluid suspension?

The interior condition is important as replacement or reconditioning can be shockingly expensive.

Good luck in your search! If you check the archives their are a few threads discussing B and RR cars as well.

I know that they have (some years) a very complex braking system, which IMO is funny since they don't stop to well (simple physics, they weigh too much!)

Also the suspension is very rugged. That said with time/age it needs to be replaced and this can cost large sums of $$.

I am not in the market for either, just curious.

I like my Ferrari Mondial t cab. It is more fun than any other car I know.

I might consider a Bentley or Rolls when I am 120. This would be to carry my 10 wives around :)

A <$50k bentley or rolls is going to have problems. Simple as that. Electrical will be the most common.
Personally, I wouldn't look at any Rolls/Bentley made before the mid 90's.

You'll see some old Rolls/Bentleys going for cheap, but thats only because they'll cost you that much money to run every year.

a good friend of mine has is an attorney, and has been in the car business his whole life and used to own the local bentl y and rolls dealership in the 70 and 80s...he personal has owned many of these cars and also lambo and ferraris...he told me the bently and rr up to the earily 90s were complete junk...he usally goes in to a tirade when talkiing about this with multiple explicatives.....he told me to NEVER buy anything older than a 96 or 97 rr or bent...parts dont exist, are very expensive, the cars are very unreliable and much more expensive to fix and maintain than a ferrari or lambo....thats why you can buy a beautiful used rolls for almost nothing....
