My buddy sent me this picture today asking me if it was one of mine. Clearly he is not a Ferrari expert since I don't have a 355. Does this car belong to anyone here? I hope not :(

That's terrible, and difficult to look at.

    Heh, Amir. ;)
Funny thing is, I've gotten messages this morning asking if it is mine... and since it's a 355 GTS, people were *really* worried it might be (since that's exactly what I have).

Luckily, mine is still safe in the garage (I went and checked, just to be sure it wasn't absconded with in the night). ;)

Funny thing is, I thought I had the only GTS in town (can't tell from this pic and others I've been sent if it is an F1 or not). I've definitely never seen another GTS around ATX, so I have no idea whose this is... but I feel bad for them.

The 355s had an issue (an actual recall was done) with fuel lines being rubbed/worn-through at the front of the engine... looks like that might be the case here. It's images like this that sometimes keep me up at night. :(

Whew. When I saw it this morning, I thought it was yours Jeff, also thought I had the last few pictures of your car.

Too bad. I hope the owner had a good insurance policy.

Not much left to part out on that one. Engine bay fire on 355 is almost always a service related issue but usually not investigated on a total loss claim. Someone who is not up to speed on 355 never knows what to look for anyway.

Heh. Yeah, Stu pinged me first thing this morning with "Please tell me this is NOT YOUR CAR!!!"

This one has shields and no challenge grille... also looks like the GTS top is black instead of body color... and no Challenge Stradale wheel... heh... so, close, but luckily no... not mine.

Feel really bad for whomever is suffering through this though. :(

Yeah, but I'd sure like to get my hands on some pieces from the front of it... the entire fiberglass nose, headlight motors, trunk interior... to have on the shelf for spares "just in case".

Now I feel bad... like a vulture on a corpse that's still warm. Sorry again if whomever owns this is reading here. :(

Well it would be a real waste if what is left was not put to good use so don't feel too bad.

There is notable oxidation on the back, much more than average.

Gas cap door open, that's an odd detail...

Burned without fire fighter attention too....I vote for "behind on the note at the end of a gravel road".....explains the rust too.

Or, they got an estimate on a 15K service...

Held closed by a spring and a plastic piece. I am sure both failed in the fire.

Seen several that looked just like it with legit fires. Barring evidence to the contrary I see no reason not to believe it was genuine. When you enter the TSB's and recalls into evidence it's pretty slam dunk unless you have other information.

    Details or still sketchy.
We had the client have his car picked up. There was just nothing we could save on it.

Well when a car has the fuel hose history the 355 has had you have to play the averages until information points in another direction.
