I just got a check in the mail from a collection company in which I had a customer judgement against. The customer ignored the judgement, so I sent them a check for about twenty bucks calling it a Q2-'06 rebate. When their check cleared last month, I called the collection company with their banking information. With that info, the collection company garnished the checking account of the customer that owed me the money!

    Merry Christmas to me!

About $2300. The collection company took 40%, but I still covered my COGS.

Wow, 40% after you did the work getting the info they needed. I'm in the wrong business.

    Still, not a bad present.

Peter, once you have a judgement, all you have to do is take it to their bank and present it - the bank just gives you the money. At least, thats what lawyers have told me. Was the deadbeat out of town? Is that why the collection agency was needed?

It was out of state with no action by the defendant even after the judgement. I had this in collection for about three months prior. It's too bad I'm law-abiding. People that welch on deals need a good, severe beating. There is not too much lower than a theif.
