Wow, that does seem perfect... but you know what they say about being too good to be true... if this is indeed a showrrom queen and only done 15kms, the next guy who buys this and wants to use it as a daily driver will get all the problems and all the bills. in some ways, it's better to buy a car that's been thru all the usual issues just so you don't have to.

I agree. Don't know WHEN the 30K servicing was done, but if relatively recent, then it seems at first pass that the seller is a knowledgeable one, as he has addressed all the appropriate points: servicing, leakdown, tubi, bubbling issues, PPI, etc.

He's ASKING for ~72K. Even with marginal room to negotiate, it seems like an attractive price for a well-maintained, low-mileage 355B. Don't find many of these around. Dealer would ask at least $8 - $10K higher IMO. I DO know that this car has been advertised once before on eBay.

Disclaimer: Lest you think I'm in cahoots, no affiliation with - or knowledge of - the seller. ;-)

15K miles for a MY95 implies approximately 1.5 miles a year. This is sufficient to get keep the innards of the car in good working condition. I bought a 13K mile car a year ago, and it has been absolutely perfect (knock on wood). As long as the key issues have been reviewed and addressed recently - as this seller seems to have done - the mileage on the car should be considered a plus, not a negative.

Seems a lot of speculation here...let's remember this IS Ebay. ;)

If this has been on Ebay before, and his "buy it now" is a reasonable $72k, then I say there is a story buried in there somewhere. Either wreck, theft recovery, or something. Yeah, the CarFax may come out clean, but I am suspicious that there is something not being disclosed.

This 355 have been listed a few times on Ebay as well as here on FChat Ads. I think it's perfect with the 30k done, Tubi and the Challange grill. Priced right too. Too bad it's not a GTS. But the only red flag I see is the Texas license plate and the location is So CA. But it may be nothing.....

The fact that it was on eBay once means little - the buyer could have priced the car higher then which could have reduced the number of interested buyers, but may be more serious in moving it now. I for one, can't remember the BIN price earlier on, or if there even was one. Does anybody?

In either event, it's very easy for a potential buyer to either confirm or deny our conspiracy theories: give the seller a call. ;-)

I would never buy it off ebay id like to see it in person first talk to the owner etc.. If it had a legit 30k service done I dont see the problems in it.

But like someone said you never know.

The Texas registration is nothing to be concerned about. Many people register cars in states other than they reside in for business, insurance, and other issues. Shouldn't be a red flag...

He did mention that the car was inspected for another buyer who obviously did not pursue the sale after the inspection. That would be the only caution that's immediate...only a PPI and visual inspection can determine the other potential negatives.

Hmm... $72k seems extreamly reasonable with the 30k done, and the Tubi and Challenge Grill... Looks like a VERY clean example as well! Quite a find as long as it turns out to be good mechanically

But thats the same as any other car is it not, from VWs, fords to ferraris. Some will have good readings some will have bad readings. Ferrari is no different. A ferrari can have its oil changed every 3000 miles and driven with care and still have bad readings.

I'm not following your point. I'm just playing "devil's advocate" with all the talk of this car being so "perfect". I am saying that something is not right here...a previous potential buyer has a PPI done, then walked...

And sure, any car can have bad leakdown/compression numbers...but not as frequently as 355's can...and they don't cost $15k to fix either! ;)

    Guys,
I looked at the car recently and had it inspected. Overall the car seems very nice. 30 k done in San Antonio in 2002. Valve guides have not been replaced but, probably not an issue at this time (leak down numbers all cylinders less than 10 %). Exhaust manifolds probably the originals. Minor paint issues typical for a 10 year old car but very clean. My issue with the car is that it has NO records. Only record is the 30 K. I rely alot on the old records to give me an idea of types of problems car has had and how well it was maintained. I'm probably being overly cautious in my quest for a 355- I figure things like center console bubbling etc can easily be fixed but major mechanical issues ( particularly in early model 355's) can add up quickly. So in the end I passed, but I think the car is nice.

This car showed up for one of our So Cal lunches recently. The car was VERY nice and exactly as described in the ebay ad. The interior looked perfect & the car sounded great (Tubi). There were a few stone chips on the front spoiler, but overall the car was awesome & I would definitely consider it if I were in the market. I don't know the seller very well, but just wanted to let you know what I thought of the car first hand - The price is very reasonable & it is in great shape.
