I started this thread in the 308 section but was advised to post it here.. i have started getting this knocking noise coming from the front of the car, at one or two miles per hour there is a knocking coming from the front. Above that speed it is difficult to tell because of other car noises. I can feel the knock through the floor pan, pedals and steering column. I took the wheels off and there is nothing loose, shocks were changed last year I got my old man to bounce on the front suspension and there is no noise, but at such a low speed the shocks would not be doing anything anyway. There is no noise when I turn the wheel . Help! It sounds quite dangerous! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=136054995&posted=1#post136054995 Regards Nick
I double checked the front and it looks like the shock was touching the inside of the lower arm. I have levered it back and it is now clear, but its looks like the bushes are perished. These never came with the shocks - ooops. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
okay i'll stab at it. from your description it sounds like the noise is a result of something moving in rotation. that can narrow down the areas to look. does turning the steering wheel at those low speeds have any effect on the sound? are all the bolts and shims in place on the suspension arms? if you've replaced the suspension recently check to make sure all the bolts and nuts affected are still tight. the more serious problem could be the hub bearing, or a cracked hub. check the front hubs ASAP! i'll see if i can dig up a diagram.
