Damn, I feel so bad asking for help right now, but I need money bad. I have 3 days to come up with $560.00. Man, I don't want to create a thread asking for help, but I need help.

I will pay you back, but right now I have no time to come up with that money.

I got into a little fender bender driving someone else's car. Yes. I'm an idiot for that. The girl's VW is scraped and the other car is unharmed, and I need to pay for it, I didn't want to go through insurance since my rates will rise. I also need to pay some of my rent/electricity which I also am short on. I'm not going to come up with excuses just so I can blow it off, I just got myself out of a financial mess, and now I'm back in.

 

The above post took some pretty big balls, especially on this board. I say pitch in. If it was December, he'd probably have what he needs from generous members by now. All I know is that when you give, some how, some way, you get it back ten-fold.

 

Uhhh, let me get this right, and with all due respect...

You want to borrow money from one of us to pay for a car wreck you caused so that the insurance you pay for for just such an occasion will not rise? Oh and pay some bills, too...?

Is not accepting responsibility for the choices you make a huge problem for this country?

A noob would be blown out for this post, but tenure does count. Even given that, I'd suggest that a more appropriate post would be to discuss your dilemma and ask for suggestions on how to solve it, rather than just asking for money.

One question that immediately comes to mind, if you know the girl well enough to drive her car, why not work out a payment plan for her. A scrape is not an immediate issue, not pretty, but she can still get to work, etc.

Yeah, that's pretty much right. If I had a job, this thread wouldn't occur. If you would like to lock this thread, go ahead. It's not like I'm taking your money and running off with it. I understand it is my fault 110%, but coming up with that money at this moment, is just too hard for me to do. If I was spoiled, and my parents paid for everything then again, this thread wouldn't occur. I worked my ass off just so I could pay my parents back for buying me a PS2 when I was 12. Yeah, this is my all time low, asking random people for money to pay for my mistake.

I don't know the other girl well enough. I've asked if I could pay her in payments, and she said no. I offered to pay what I have so far, but no again.

You're talking about ~$500. Pay her what you have and tell her you will make payments. Dont ask...tell. It sucks because you are in the wrong here but thats life. if she doesnt accept that then you have two options...

A) let her sue you in small claims court and by the time she has her day in court you will have paid her back (hopefully).

Or B) file with your insurance. Will it really go up THAT much ?

Having once been a broke college student, I'll guess the deductible is close to $500 anyway. So going through insurance probably won't help here.

I agree with Jerry, don't ask her what she's willing to do, tell her how you'll pay her back. (I would avoid litigation, even if its small claims, just not worth the hassle).

 

Another reason I don't want to go through my insurance is because of my parents. I don't want to tell them (sounds like a stupid move), I'm nervous of what they will say. My parents will in turn ask me tons of questions like I committed a murder (which I did not). I've told one person of my parent's situation and I just am having a ****ty year. I don't like asking for help, I like to be independent, but now I need help, and I ask for it. Won't happen again for sure.

I guess being honest on fchat or the internet for that matter isn't very helpful. Thank you guys for your comments.

First accident, no tickets. I'm a careful driver (ha.) I'm a small person (5' 3") driving a huge Toyota Land Cruiser. Was turning to park, and misjudged it, and it bumped.

 

Being honest is the best idea. Asking for money on the internet is questionable.

And I have to agree with you. Being afraid of your parents is stupid. I was too at that age too, so it is not just you. But they will still love you, and it will all be a lot less painful than you running up a court record that you will loose.

 

Yup, I wasn't thinking when I came up with the thread. Thought this would be the best way, but nope. I learn the hard way alot more than usual.
