At somepoint the original power antenna was replaced in my car with a Ford unit. Today the mount backed out while on a drive. Since the motor was dead anyways I want to replace the whole unit. Anyone have any suggestions for a replacement?

Mine was made by Bosch, and is NLA for years now....the Germans still make a unit for Mercedes that should fit, but may take some engineering at the mounting hole that pokes through the trunk.

Another option is the Harada (sp) but this requires the addition of a rely. Search for other threads and there will be a diagram for the relay.

I purchased a Harada but the mounting is slightly different. I am now pondering how best to modify it to maintain a more original look.

The good news is they only cost $13 and the relay is about the same.

The Autovox fitted no problem, just needed to find a longer piece of drain pipe from the bottom to the drain plug, very pleased and all is oem again.

Next time you get a chance could I ask a favour? Please measure the extended length of your new unit. I live in a pretty mountanous area and before I change the aftermarket that I have in there now I want to make sure that I am improving the situation not making it worse. Thanks ahead of time. From the tip to the fender.

Just for your information, I bought an original, OEM, Bosch Autojet II antenna on E-Bay a few months ago for about 100 euros, just to have it for spare. I don't even know if it works, it is still in its original packing, under a transparent blister...

I've got my original in a box in storage. I replaced the original semi-automatic (goes up and down with the toggle switch) with a automatic (up and down when the radio is on). It is an OEM chrome. Contact me if you are interested.
