PPI question

I see the importance of having a PPI done. My question is, if I buy a 360 from a Ferrari dealer, will they automatically have a PPI done for me?
Another question is, should I have a second Ferrari dealer do a PPI also?

Not sure if you would want the selling dealer to do it as there is a conflict of interest. Get another dealer or independent shop that knows Ferraris to do it. You will have to pay for it.

You really need to get an impartial opinion.

Expect to pay $$$$ but it will save you later.

Please read the inspection list at the top of this section on 360/430 and print it out.

Then discuss it with the people doing the inspection BEFORE they do it.

If they aren't comfortable and competent in all phases of the inspection, then find someone else.

Doe's an inspection mean it's perfect?

No.

You are making a very large financial deal with a used car salesman.

Shouldn't you take all the precautions you possibly can?

No seller aill "automatically" have a PPI performed for you. If they do, it my opinion that it's shady.

A lot of dealer's have stopped performing PPI's, you may have to find an Indy shop to do it.

 

Good advice. But, before running around spending the money on PPI's there's things you can determine yourself before hand. Personally eyeballing the car is best. Any paint work, is the interior wear commensurate with the mileage, is the car complete with all the books and tools etc., do you have a copy of the service history, is servicing up to date, how's the Autocheck look etc.? Verify this stuff and don't trust what a dealer is telling you. If a car passes the smell test then go the next step of a PPI. Also, have a clear plan of what you're looking for in a car beforehand and don't let emotions get in the way so that you're compromising. Good luck.

 

You shouldn't have the seller do the PPI... you need an independent opinion.

Long-story short... when I was buying my first Ferrari, I took a 360 from Dealer A (who swore the car was perfect) to Dealer B who already knew they didn't have a car for me. They found a ton of problems with the car.

I brought car back to Dealer A and chose another 360 off their lot and brought it to that car to Dealer B who gave it a clear bill-of-health. The car was flawless the entire time I owned it.

Definitely have the PPI done.
I wouldn't have the seller do the work.
Bring it to another dealer (if there's one around) or a certified mechanic who'll do the PPI.

Good luck and bottom line... think with your head, not your emotions. Do not fall in love with the car until after the PPI is done. This will make you a happier person in the long run.

I bought my car, used, from the dealer.

They did the PPI, of sorts, when they bought the car.

They also provided a 90 day warranty, and gave me a discount on the major service the car needed as part of the deal.

During the 90 day warranty, they replaced the brakes, two actuators for the suspension and an O2 sensor. Nothing has broken since. (knock wood)

I guess it depends on the dealer. Algar backed their warranty 100%, even replacing the O2 sensor after the 90 days was up.
