I do it regularly when I am away.

Car itself does not mind but there are a few anciliary annoyances:

    1. with battery off the windows do not drop to open the door. as a result switch it off only when doors are closed. It also means that when you get back to your car, the door will be hard to open, you can ease the window below the seal to help out.
    2. of course clock and radio will reset

Some say that the car should be left idling for 5 mins after a battery disconnect for the computer to re-learn the optimal mixture.
Frankly havn't really noticed any difference between immediate start up and run and idling

Thank You for your response, so there should not be any problems with battery disconection except with radio and clock.

I disconnected my battery (2000 456) for 2 months during my summer trip. Only needed to reset radio and clock. However, after starting, the check engine light was on, drove for about 30 min, still on. The next day, started the car, the light was off. Strange, but that what it was.
