Any recommended reads for someone starting to look for a 308/328/Mondial? Looking for a buyer's guide type book...
Are there any Bentley-type manuals as there are for the 911?

In addition, I have the excellent 3 volume Porsche book set by Karl Ludvigsen.

Is there any comparable work on Ferrari?

    Thanks!

    Would recommend:
Original Ferrari V-8 by Keith Bluemel
The Brooklands Books compilations on period road tests

No Bentley type manuals exist for the Ferrari that I know of, but copies of the original factory manuals (not that great) are available, and many internet sites detailing DIY upkeep are excellent.

    Well,

The Complete Guide to the Ferrari 308/328/Mondial by Wallace A. Wyss should get you started.

Original Ferrari V-8, Keith Bluemel, 1997 as mentioned

    Also:

    Ferrari 308 – 328 – Mondial, Wallace A. Wyss, 1982
    Ferrari Dino 246 – 308 – 328, Alan Henry, 1998
Ferrari 328-348-Mondial Ultimate Portfolio, Brookland Books
Ferrari 308, 328, 348 Tests and Specifications, Unique Motor Books, on Ebay
Road and track, On Ferrari, 1984-1988

Most of these books are compilations of various road test. This website has a lot of good information also.

I don't know the Porsche book - but there is the 3 volume "Ferrari - Opera Omnia - 1946-2000". This is the latest version, and amounts to about 1200pp. It is basically a Ferrari encyclopedia. It's not a book to sit and read but is a very good reference work, if you are looking for an overview of Ferrari since it started. Expensive (about £150) but comes up on Ebay from time to time.

Wyss book is published 1982, but revised 1988 to include the 328.
