Seems like the bearing on my alternator is going . Is there a recommendation to source a replacement ? I see Scuderia has them for about $700.

....... and don't throw the old one away. It can easily be rebuilt and kept as a spare

FWIW, the only time my car stranded me was when a rebuilt alternator failed.

I noticed that too when researching a rebuilt alternator (Toyota compatibility).

The parts that wear out to cause an alternator to fail are all replaceable.
Over the past 40 years I have used several rebuilt alternators (I always rebuild mine vs getting an Asian core instead)
If a rebuilt fails its prop because of the person who put it back together.

Bumping this thread after finding via Google search. Can anybody confirm any Land cruiser alternators that will work? I was unable to find one with a pulley that is compatible with our alternator belt.

Land cruiser alternator has the wrong upper mount. Not sure how the guy above made it work.

That's the alt i used the only mod i had to make was to drill out the hole for the adjustable slide that toyota uses as 360 adjuster is threaded rod type. I replaced the bearings and rectifier. No issues up to date.
    Cheers

Yes. Not quite the easy swap that was implied.
The problem is that the upper mount is about 4-5mm away from the bracket so would need a spacer or washers. Then, yes: the threaded hole for that mount would need to be drilled out for the bolt to go through. Our adjuster for the belt isn't related to the alternator, so I'm not sure what you mean, there. Lastly, the pullies need to be swapped.
I've decided to have my OEM alternator rebuilt so I won't have to rig all that up. I'd prefer everything fit correctly. If I had a free Land Cruiser alternator, then maybe I'd try.
