    I remember seeing (on the internet) a grey RHD F40 offered for sale a couple of years ago. Could be the same one in this article. The interior looked quite different then an 'ordinary' LHD Ferrari.

    Most likely that was #91283, it had a full leather interior, like some of the other Brunei cars. It was offered for sale by Adrian hamilton for GBP250,000 in 2006. It was then converted back to look like a standard red F40, I think last seen at DK Engineering late 2010.

    I would surely, surely hope that the Sultan would send a couple of his rhd Fcars this way to Australia. Would be a great opportunity for us to do some exotic spotting on our roads (provided of course they are even allowed on our roads). :D

    Ever since I first became aware of the RHD F40's it has been one of my dreams to own one of them .. but at half a million quid that's a little too steep for me. Life wud be easier if the Australian government allowed LHD classics like the F40, Enzo etc to be registered for road use instead. Anyway I will keep on dreaming

    Off topic .. but I recently had the pleasure of visiting an Asian royal's car collection .. contained in 3 large warehouse like garages with full service faculties. There were obviously loads of cars to wet the appetite of a car fanatic, but for me one of the most impressive sights was the collection of 10 (yes that's TEN) Mercedes Benz 600 Pullmans sitting side by side, including one which had been fully restored & converted by AMG. Despite the number of cars, he man himself assured me that every car in his collection is driven regularly and meticulously maintained.

    That's pretty neat, it must have been a great collection to have seen in person. Asia has some serious car collectors. My personal goal right now is to own an F40 & F50 someday :)

    I doubt that you would ever be able to register either a LHD OR RHD F40 on normal rego in Australia. The car wouldn't be able to comply to the engineering rules without a lot of modifications, like ride height, extrusion bars in the doors etc. etc.
    I'm registering mine on CLUB PLATES next January which allows me to drive it 90 days of the year, anywhere I want (will have a log book though......that's no big deal as far as I'm concerned) and be perfectly legal.

    so do aussie regulations not allow for the car being over a certain age, to be free of such restrictions?

    seems we're pretty lucky here then, in comparison

    LHD cars (at least where I live in Victoria and there are different rules for different sates in Aus.), have to be 25 years old to be allowed "CLUB PLATE" rego. And for full rego (with a lot more rules and regulations), the LHD car has to be 30 years old.
    Normal "brand new" RHD cars can be registered with the normal rules and regulations just as a 50 year old normal RHD car can be registered as well. But once you get into LHD cars, you're stuck with the 25 year old problem.
    In other words you couldn't bring in an ENZO and register it unless it is 25 yeas old.
    I'm gong to try to rgister my F40 next Jan 2012, because the first F40 were built in 1987 and 1987 - 2012 is 25 years.

    Club plates have some really amazing advantages, for example normal rego is around $650 (if you live in the city) $540 if you live 20 miles out of the city (approx). Club rego is around $70 or something like that. We have another, lets call it a tax, which we call "transfer of registration fee, which is 8% of the price of the car. e.g if you were to buy my F40 for say $700k and register it normally it would costs you 8% of $700k to have it transfered into your name. With "club Plate rego", there is NO transfer of rego fee. Big saving right there.
    I have noticed recently since the new CLUB PLate rego rules came in which was the Jan-Feb this year, a lot of Ferrari guys are putting their cars on club plates.

    it's interesting to learn the differing rules around the world

    wow...at 8% that reg transfer (tax) is $56K ouch! sell it to your mother, and have her sell it back to you for $1 LOL

    i can certainly understand utilizing the club plate, doesn't make sense otherwise

    i'm really tempted to build a large private track after we move to NOLA, as it seems with increasingly greedy government agencies, and silly politics, that will be the only place to enjoy my sports cars! like your F40-GTC is now i suppose

    Dick Lovett's did have a RHD F50 but it was converted for a UK owner - not the Sultan. At the same time they had a LHD F50 and it was interesting to compare the two side by side. It has recently sold I understand.

    Yep, the RHD model is sold, they still have the LHD one.
