A great Ferrari lover passed on Sunday. Carl Cantera had many great cars including 288 GTO, Boxer, Daytona Spider and a 250 Pininfarina that won best of class at Pebble Beach . He and wife Betty were strong supporters of the Ferrari Club and held some fantastic Ferrari gatherings at their waterfront home on the Chesapeake Bay. Carl's generosity of sharing his passion for cars meant a great deal to me when I was a young guy just trying to get a peak of a nice Ferrari here and there. Carl believed the cars were to be driven and it wasn't unusual to see his pristine 288 GTO parked in the lot outside his office in Wilmington Delaware a good 40 miles from his home on the Bay at that time.

I'm sure he will be sorely missed by many.

    RIP Carl

I received news of this yesterday. Condolences to his family and friends. If you look in the 2006 Annual Meet program there is a pic from one of the many great gatherings they used to have. Kind of puts a finer point on what's important and what isn't.

Carl and Betty hosted one of my first FCA-MAR events, in the early 90's, a concours and wonderful luncheon at their place. It was fantastic, and I was hooked. They epitomized the warmth of the club's members.

Wow Mike What an amazing photo that is. One that I have never seen.
Here's one of Carl with his first Ferrari a 1967 330 GTS. One of 100 made. Perfect condition. His last and my favorite 288 GTO.

Best to all his wonderful family.

A small group of the MAR FCA went to the viewing last evening in Willmington to pay our respects to Betty and Carl. They are two of the most gracious people I have had the wonderful privilege to meet. They always gave to the Ferrari club and all its members with events that some of us were lucky to be a part of. Betty appreciated our presence. Her entire family was there to support her. The flower arrangement from the MAR was very nice and very Ferrari. Nice touch with the MAR shield. Betty appreciates all your prayers and thoughts.
