I just learned today that we've lost Chairpilot (Bob Rohaly.) I have been honored to call Bob a friend of mine. I hooked him up with his QV and he helped me remove the engine from my GT4. FChatters will remember him best for his plateclips, amazing attention to detail (leading him to become a F-car concours judge) and wonderfully friendly personality. I don't know any of the details or how long ago, as the message was just relayed to me from his daughter in law via my wife.

The family will be selling the 308 QV, which is down in the LA area. It is a wonderful car.

We've lost one of the best guys in our community. :(

He had posted pictures of the QV a couple of times, an outstanding example.

This is very sad to hear. He has started many great threads and contributed to many many more. The information he has provided through his own learning is a treasure trove. Im glad he has been a part of this site. I did not know him directly, but I wish I had.

Geez, this is terrible news. I met Bob at Concorso Italiano 2012. Actually rode to the show in his QV. A bunch of us went to dinner in Carmel that evening . . .

Very, very sorry to hear. A super nice guy.

WHAT? I don't know what to say, Bob is like a brother to me. Oh man, this is terrible. I'm going to try and contact his family. Why why why?

Im just sick to my stomach about this news. I was supposed to call him & talk about his cancer which is the same as mine. I have had it for 4 years (multiple myeloma) but my treatments are working for me at this time. I had no idea he was that sick & unfortunately lost the chance to talk to him before he passed. My prayers to him & his family

He was the first to reach out to me after buying a plateclip for driving my car home for the first time. He lent me his socket and hub puller for my steering wheel. Great guy, may he rest in piece and my condolences to his family.

I'm so sorry to hear this. He was very helpful to me when I bought one his first plateclips, still in the prototype stage, for my 308 GTB. And was so kind when he exchanged it for another to fit my Challenge car a couple of years ago. He was a genuinely nice fellow.

    He'll be missed.

While some of us knew he was fighting muliple myeloma, none of us knew that he was losing the fight. From my experiences around him, he was a very positive type. I don't think I ever heard him complain. For those reasons, I think we're all in shock.

I do know that Bob wanted the QV sold and the money to go to his grandkids' college funds. (If there's ever a time to overpay for a great 308, this would be the time.) It saddens me that his granddaughters will not get more years with their Papa to learn how great a guy he was, but at least his hard work and dedication to the QV will help create a lasting legacy in education funds.

I never met Bob, but I did "work" with him - long distance - to design and have a plate clip made for the front bumper of the old Jag. Bob was very nice to me and helped out a lot - I'm incredibly sad to hear this. My thoughts go out to his family.

I was just on his site today researching his wonderful front plate bracket when I saw the message in yellow below. I was wondering what had happened.

    May he rest in peace.

    Wow-- RIP, Bob.

I bought one of his early plateclips as well, for the 612.

I'm heartbroken by this. I never met Bob in person but he made it a point to contact me to get together when he was coming up to the SB area as he had a friend up here and was in the area on occasion. Unfortunately, we never could get together. Although I did not know his age I assumed he was between 50-60 from the pics I saw. Way too young and a great guy, he will be greatly missed. RIP Bob.

I remember him as very good guy. I met him at Best of Italy and France one year. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by many. Very sad news indeed.
