Well, it's been a rough one...many of you followed my post about my great dane falling sick and not being able to walk, then being misdiagnosed several times until finally a tumor was found on his brain stem. I tried experimental drugs, but the tumor grew too fast, radiation would've left him lifeless, and chemo would've killed him...operating was not an option due to the location. He started downhill over the weekend, couldn't lift his head anymore and was in so much pain.

Anyways, I'm sad to report that today Tei passed away. Truly my best friend. Thanks all for the support and well wishes. I know he's in a better place and no longer in pain. Just sucks, he was only 6.5 years old. I'll miss you buddy.

Sorry to hear about your dog man.
I have an old neo that's getting slower and more and more wobbly.

    Very sorry for your loss.

Most people don't want to get another puppy right away; I can assure you, it really helps with the healing.

RIP Tei. Dogs are blessings that are always gone way too soon. But they live on in our heart and memory and will be waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

    The Rainbow Bridge
    inspired by a Norse legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

    For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

I am so sorry for your loss; no one understands fully until they have a best friend.
My best friend was put down last year and there still is not a day that I hope he will jump on the bed.

I don't think I would ever handle that type of pain which is why I don't even want a pet. I fear I'll get close to them and then have to endure the hardship of the loss.

May he rest in peace...be strong

    Sorry for your loss.
Tears in my eyes as I think of all my canine friends I've lost over the years, but the good times out weigh the heartache of their short lives. I just hope that when I stop wagging my tail some one will have the courage to help me. :-(

Thanks all. It is a horrible way to start the new year, but at the same time, he's no longer in pain, so I find some comfort there. We have been through a lot together and traveled the US, so he's seen some of the most beautiful countryside ever, and probably marked more trees and bushes than any other dog out there in his six short years. It sucks, sucks bad...I hear him whine at night and find myself getting up to go lay next to him, but he's not there. They say time heals all wounds...I'm not so sure about that right now.

    Kevin,
My condolences to you for Tei's passing. I still remember being crowded off the couch by him when installing your TV. May your memories of Tei last another lifetime.

I'm so sorry at your loss, words alone can not express how difficult your road is at the moment. It was just 1 year ago I had to put my best friend Katie, down due to old age. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her or miss her deeply. Time has made it easier but the void is still huge.

My thoughts and prayers are with you,

    Howard Musolf

Sorry to hear about your dog. A very sad time indeed. The only good thing I can say is that he will show up in your dreams every now and then and it's really cool. It will make you happy forever.
