At about 4:30 pm on Saturday a 1988 Ferrari was in an accident on I-95 near Port Saint Lucie, Florida. The 43yr old man was killed after his car flipped and hit a pole. His name is Marc Lafleur. He is from New Smyrna. Does anyone know him?

Very sad, and bizzarre. A ford explorer isn't a small car, you'd think he saw them. And the 328 doesn't exactly have lightning acceleration to where it was too much to handle.

    Sad none the less, RIP

Tough to speculate but let's be honest, you have to also consider driver error.

Let's hope the ones who survived recover fully and quickly.

Thoughts are with Marc's family. A tragedy for sure.

Very odd facts of loss though. I litigate stuff like this for a living and I'd bet anything that the driver of the Ford SUV had just changed into the outside lane and was either moving too slowly or the Ferrari moving too quickly causing the Ferrari to collide with the rear of the SUV, I bet at an oblique angle. There's definitely more to this, a lot more.

Very sad. You may wish to move this to the Florida forum, if it hasn't already been done.

Ugh. Really hate to hear this. I wonder how fast the 328 driver was going? Seems like you'd really have to be pushing it to clip an SUV and lose complete control like that :-(

What are the odds that the 2000 ford explorer did not have working brake lights ?

I'm betting a hard stop by the old truck with non working tail lights in the dark would be hard to see for anyone...just happen to be a Ferrari this time.

Today, when I hear of an accident like this my first question is: Was a cell phone involved?

I have a condo in New Smyrna but have never seen Marc or his car. I was on my way back home to Palm Beach Gardens going South on Sunday and must have just missed the accident in the other direction.

The paper said he rear ended the car in front of him and them spun off and hit a pole or post on the side of the road.

My condolences to his family and friends.

A few weeks ago at work a coworker was telling me about a trip he did to Florida a few years ago. He said one of the most enduring memories he'll have of the place is how absolutely terrible the drivers are there. 'Here in the S.F.Bay area it's only the odd a**hole out of ten or so that doesn't understand what the different colors of a traffic light mean, or what all the wide white stripes and letters on the street and signs are trying to communicate. In Florida it seemed like no one new or cared...they just go'.

This is so sad, but let em say that there's a lot of PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE a***holes on the roads, people that SLAM on their brakes @ 60mph on the highway just because hey see you coming fast on a red car (they don't even think on consequences) ... I wouldn't doubt at all that this is the case ,,,,, arghh this makes me so mad ..

    RIP :(

Bad drivers in Florida...Tampa is much better than the rest of the state but still you have to be careful. RIP to the driver... sad indeed.
