    I will be up there with my boss running 2 cars.... 79 March Formula Atlantic and a 75 Chevron B-31 Sports Racer. The Hawk is a great event!

    Johnsonville Brats(the Cadillac of bratwurst), corn on the cob, cold beer and race gas fumes. Heaven.
    The Friday evening parade of race cars into town is not to be missed.

    The Friday evening parade of race cars into town is absolutely not to be missed!!! I've got a great picture taken by my wife of my mom, dad, daughter and myself from the 2010 event that I need to post later as the looks on our are priceless.

    Yes, along with a 512F/M. The Saturday concours looks interesting with several DB2/3's and a Lancia B20. Also an old 350 Lambo. Some stuff shows up unexpected I have noticed.

    Went yesterday. Not far to travel. Brings peace into my life every time I go there. The assortment of better cars showing up are not as great as in the past. Don't pay much attention to the cars when they are on the track. Seeing them up close, and chats with the crews are more interesting for me.

    For cars turn 5 is close and a good tight corner shot for the camera if the guys are on line. Turn three can really be interesting if a driver knows the limits of his car (tires). I remember an old '49 or 50ist Mercury that ran the Pan Americana that took the curve lap after lap at the limit some years ago. Each lap I thought for sure he was going to leave the track with the law of physics at the controls. A sight to see for me.

    If you are as hot and dirty as I am after this event, take a change of cloths and some soap and shower using the showers in the main rest room. I do this every year so I can enjoy the evening down town and have a comfortable ride back home.

    The attendance for the car shows downtown after the races, although orderly, are getting larger every year. While waiting for the cars to arrive, I spoke with a Ferrari guy from back East who comes here every year because he thinks Road America is the best track in the country.

    Will I go back? Sure. Maybe to see the motorcycle races too. Just a great track with a lot of history in sport racing, and the town is a gem to go along with the whole deal.

    Damn, missed that #87 Ferrari, what model is that? Missed the 917 & 962 too. Took a ton of pics but I see to way to hot link them. Mine are all on Photobucket.

    The 512 F/M is real and was built by Mike Parks using a 917 windscreen back in 1971. The 312PB was built up on a new tub using all 312PB parts. It was built by the 917K owners brother, who also owns a real 312PB. The 917K was a Porsche test car.
