Rotor Scarred?

I have seen that many times before. You may have gotten a small stone/pebble jammed between the brake pad and rotor....Depending on how deep the score is in the rotor....You can get the rotor machined. But............they have a minimum thickness that they can machine rotor too. It will be written somewhere on the rotor. If the rotor gets machined too thin, then it may crack under the heat/stress while on the car. No machinist will ever do that!!! Unless they wanna get sued Ask your dealer about it, but im sure they will just sell you a replacement rotor. How much are they worth at the dealer? Maybe you should start hunting around for cheaper rotors I think.

 

It doesnt look that bad actually. Maybe you can just leave it, if the stone/pebble is not embedded into the pad anymore?? Hopefully it can be machined out. Would save you some dollars. Both rotor should be machined at the same time, and also new pads should be fitted too. Tell the dealer that, incase they want to sell you 2 new genuine Ferrari rotors! Yikes!

 

Not that bad, I would not worry about it at all unless there is some squeeling when braking however this will probably be gone quite quickly. As mentioned it was most likely caused by a stone, most brake discs look like this.
