Hi, does anyone know if you can match this color without the metallic..? Can a restoration painter get the code? Did this Rubino ever come solid? Thnx.

Most color matching is done these days by a scanning computer, not by the number 'code"....

Maybe someone can answer this question more specifically.....what year Ferrari are you dealing with???

I thought this thread was about a new F1 driver, but anyway...

When I had my front valance resprayed (nero metallico, who I thought was a Roman emperor) the shop remixed it several times to get the right amount of metal flake. That could be dialed down to zero, but I think what you'd want is the paint code of the specific ingredient that gives it the dark red color. So, you'd need the formula.

A good body/paint shop might be able to get that for you. It may look different than you expect, though. The difference between black and black metallic is pretty significant, for example.
