It's not fine dining, but it's almost the definition of local cuisine:

    Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House: http://www.mrswilkes.com/

It's family style (meaning you may get seated with other people at large tables) and they just bring out plate after plate of local fare. Delicious and fun. Always a line, so get there early. Don't know if they take reservations.

For fine dining, The Olde Pink House:

    Il Pasticcio on Broughton closed.
Cafe 37 on 37th and Elizabeth's on 37th are 2 great dinner spots. Both high end fine cuisine.
Rock's at the Bohemian on River Street is great for outdoor people watching and the rooftop lounge has a fantastic view.
For casual, Vinnie Van Gogos's pizza is great for outdoor seating also just off of Bay Street

Avoid Ruth's Chris --- unless of course you want to sit for 7 hours and have poor, disaffected, and uninterested service (and very average steaks)

Garibaldis is awesome. You've gotta get the crispy flounder. It is great!
