I really like them and apparently they have great sound and noise cancellation but the fact that they require batteries kind of puts me off

Nah. As with everything that carries a Ferrari badge, you pay for the badge and not much else. The headphones are pretty poor with regards to everything you actually want from a pair of headphones in that price range.

Get a pair of BOSE instead. Sound is not as good as a pro headseat (the sound range is pretty boring and the crispness has room for improvement) but the noise cancellation is unrivalled. (I've owned a pair of QC15's for approx 18 months now)

If you want proper sound you can get better quality and excitement for less $ than a pair of BOSE, but if you want the comfort of proper noice cancellation I would not hestitate for a moment with picking up a pair of BOSE headphones. The new Ferrari headphones (both Scuderia and Cavallino collections) have mediocre to poor scores in all the Hi-Fi magazine reviews I've seen them featured in.

By the way, I believe nearly all NC headphones require batteries. My QC15's came with a small Li-On rechargable battery. You get over 20 hours of power between recharges. (So if you use them for about an hour 5 days a week, it results in a recharge once a month, a recharge that takes <2 hours)
