The purpose of this thread is to post all of the places that you have dealt with for service, good or bad, and a little blurb on what makes them good or bad. This is going to be limited to the New England Region.

I recently purchased a 360 F1 Spider and am looking for information on shops people have dealt with other than the usual Miller Motorcars or F40.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I will start off, Went to Capozzi's yesterday to have my new tires installed as recommended by Pete Lombardo. Excellent work. The rims were flawless going in and flawless comming out. The shop was clean and orderly and the staff knowledgeable. I dealt with Anthony and Ezio. Would recommend if you are looking for a tire installer.

Good prices too to mount and balance the tires.

Hi mike I'm not used to soliciting but if you like give me a call 203 770 1695 and I can talk to you. I am In conn and mainly do mobile diagnostic work and ecu reprogramming for other repair shops and body shops but have all the training from fna. Or I can point you in a direction as far as options.

I'm sure that a couple would easily back Ferrari/Maserati of New England.

Bill Pollard in Gaylordsville CT is considered one of the best for older Ferraris. Francois Sicard in Ridgefield CT as well.

I would also cast a favorable vote for Vantage Motors in Stamford, CT for those of us in the Fairfield County area. Family business, not exclusively Ferrari, also Aston Martin, Lamborghini and other high end cars. They have complete capability including paint, upholstery and machine shop for engine work. Fair and knowledgeable. Has done good work on my 400i.

I have used Black Horse Garage in Bridgeport, CT for all the service on my 308 & TR. Their service is top notch and prices are competitive. A full service shop from mechanical, upholstery, to paint & body work.

I have also heard very good things about David Feinberg (Fastradio here on F-Chat). I know folks that have used him and highly recommend him as well. I had the chance to meet him this year and is a first class individual (and regularly helps me out with advice).

Jim McGee at Pocono Sports Car did my gearbox last year. I was happy with both the outcome and price. Jim is on my short list of proffesionals I will consult with for stuff I do myself and the shorter list of guys I trust to touch my car when its beyond my talent.

I'll second the recommendation on Dave Feinberg up in Bedford, N.H. I had significant problems with my '85 308 Euro and he sorted it out quickly and effectively. Runs better now than in the last 10 years. He's very personable, knowledgeable, thorough, and reasonably priced.
Very capable on both mechanical and electronic/electrical diagnosis and repair.
Good Luck with your new toy.....

I too would like to put in a good word for David from Ferrari Service of Bedford. In my opinion, you would be hard pressed to find a more personable, helpful, knowledgeable, thorough, or capable service guru in the New England area.

I initially came to know David and his work through his invaluable help in sorting out a blown motor in my 85 308 GTS. His work is absolutely meticulous, and his pricing is extremely fair for the astounding quality of the work that he performs. If you are shopping around for service, give David a call, and you will soon realize that you are dealing with a real top-notch professional.

David has my car now, and is currently re-building my 308 engine after years of searching for the source of a major overheating problem. We're finding and addressing mechanical issues that were completely missed by other Ferrari 'experts' who have had my car in their shop. David has found issues and fixed them that were even missed by factory-trained mechanics at several Ferrari dealerships, including Ferrari of New England and Norwoods of Texas. His level of knowledge and experience regarding pre-1994 Ferraris has greatly impressed me. Everything Ken says is true - if you're looking for a REAL troubleshooter, and not some moron who plugs-in an OBD-III diagnostic machine and swaps parts until your wallet is empty, then you need to give David a call.

+1 for David !! Two thumbs WAY UP !! David has been awesome with diagnostic talent. I wouldn't hessitate to have him take care of my precious Ferrari. I also like that he sticks to factory OEM products and specifications as far as possible. To me, this shows he fully understands what the Ferrari engineers were trying to accomplish. The Ferrari folks on the east coast are very fortunate to have such a great resource in their neighborhood.

Comments above about David notwithstanding, I'm sure I wouldn't be alone in considering his talent and skillset right on par with the Crall's, Helms's and Hughes's of the Ferrari world. We are indeed fortunate to have someone with David's expertise and personality in our area. Not to mention he actually gets out there and drives with us boys.

David has maintained my 89 329 GTB for the last few years and I have nothing but high praise for his work. In my humble opinion, David’s experience with 328s and Boxers is unparalleled in this area. He has the tools, the knowledge, and the patience to handle just about anything. He’s got pretty thick skin on his knuckles as well. David’s estimates are detailed in terms of time and parts needed. While he is doing the work, he provides you with as much or as little detail as you desire. If he sees something else that not right or needs repair he will bring it to your attention in a way that is informative and never pushy. There are simply no surprises with David. I can’t imagine trusting my car to anyone else. If you need more details please feel free to send me a PM.

Ill give the thumbs up for David too, he's almost as anal as I am. Kidding aside, the fact he has owned his boxer since I was in diapers says he's a die-hard enthusiast and loves the marque. Its his passion.

+1, trained at the Ferrari factory and lots of experience on both the older and newer cars. It seems not as many independents like to touch the 355's and newer but Jim knows them inside out. To speak to his experience, last time I visited in the shop he had an F40, 360 challenge, 360 road car, and 2 355 challenges...some impressive machinery there!

Regarding shops for needs other than Ferrari trained

I've found a Alternator/Starter shop that seems to have every part imaginable with Bilt rite Auto Electric in Plainville CT. They found a rotor and stator on their shelf for my screwed alternator and had it back to me totally rebuilt (bearings and all) and looking new in 24 hrs.

    860-793-0155

They do not seem to have a "Ferrari tax" either.

Plus one for David Feinberg in Bedford, NH. I have worked with David several times and always enjoy the stories and information given. His wealth of knowledge of Ferrari's and other European vehicles is astonishing. No corners will be cut -- he treats his customers vehicles like they were his own ... and his Boxer is a piece of art!

David F just did a major and other maintenance for me. Very pleasant experience and David took a lot of time to keep me in the loop and also to vastly improve the originality and cosmetics in the engine compartment (see a pic he sent me below). He's extremely meticulous and through. I recommend him highly.

His number is earlier in this thread.

Agreed, David Feinberg also went over our 83 Mondial and gave us great insight on issues that the dealer overlooked. IMO the dealers out there believe in preventative maintenance, but not to the degree that I want. With their high overhead, they want to keep you coming back. Dave is a precision artiste, he wants your car to run its' best. He has no need to have you rush back to him, since he has a steady clientele coming in for the major service regardless.
