    The shifter bushing for reverse and 1st gear is going, going, gone. To replace it, are there any special tools needed and is it an easy fix. I have the part number. Anyone been here before?

    If it is the bushing i am thinking of, contact Fchatter Verell as he offers a better version. It is relatively easy to change out. Verell's bushing is better thank stock imo.

    If your going to change the bushing be prepared to "trash" the xmission. I did when I changed the bushing (to Verell's).

    What I mean by "trashed" is that you may VERY WELL have to drop the transmission pan to realign the shift linkage. And Oh, by the way, while you are at it, change the shift shaft seals too. That means dropping the oil pan, so buy the appropriate gaskets and O-rings. It is a big PITA but 100% worth it.

    Might as well just DO IT ALL and get it over with.

    I just did mine two weeks ago - plan on a 12-hour day, but can all be done in a single day. Verell has ALL the bushings/seals you'll need, although the actual sump gaskets you might be able to re-use (if they're not very old) or source from the 'usual suspects'. Sounds like you're looking for the SilentBloc bushing.
