can anyone tell me why my slowdown 1-4 light is coming on from start up and then after about 20 - 30 minutes of driving goes out not to come back on until startup again.......it's a 2.7 1995 355 with hyperflows.....when the light is on the car behaves just perfect.......shall I need a new thermo control unit?..I have cleaned and stabilanted the electrical connections

What are your other temp gauges reading when the 'slowdown' light comes on?

It's the stupid catalytic converter temperature ecu's. Those things are nothing but trouble. If you are getting the light from cold it has to be shot. What side comes on 1/4 or 5/8 bank? What ever the case you can swap the cat ecu's from one side to another to see if the problem jumps banks. Run a search of the archives as it has been talked about loads of times. It's an EASY fix that you can do yourself in minutes. The reason I say swap them from side to side is because if it isn't the cat tamp ecu/s then you could have a thermocouple that has had it or a bad connection. What ever the case it's an EASY do-it-yourself fix, especially since you have a '95 2.7.

    Oh what the heck, here

The cat temp ecu can be located behind the shock towers in the rear of the engine bay. Mine aren't there because I got rid of the damn things all together.

If after you swap the cat ecu's from side to side, and if you still get the slow down light coming on the same bank, you will want to try the swap again but with the thermocouples. On my 348 they are located on the bottom exit side of the cat.

    Nope easy as pie.

Cat ecu's from the top of the engine bay, thermocouples from the bottom of the car.

Just follow the wire from the thermocouple, coming out of the cat, back to the ecu.

And no I don't know squat, but at least I share what I don't know.

Wow, anyone know where can I find more diagrams like the one above (particularly engine)? Nice to see an exploded picture for my own knowledge. I have a 5.2 model

When i took mine out, the cases were splitting, as has been foretold here. Black auto silicone used with no regard for beauty, overnight dry, have not had a problem since.
