    Ron,

If i may ask, who are you to tell me if i should or should not smoke in my car? Are you in the car with me? Of course you are not! The 308 has a proper cigar tray and yes, i smoke cigars. For you to be so bold and brazen is astonishing.

How many ways can I say, ”HELL NO.” Do what you want in your cars but I'll slap a cig out your mouth in a sec if you try it in my cars. Get out.

When I bought the car, the first and only owner pointed to the ash tray and said that no ashes had ever been in there. And, so far, it has been the same for me.

I smoke cigarettes and I smoke them in my Ferrari. I would never even dream of smoking in someone else's car without first asking them and there are only a few I would even ask. (Obviously Karen is not someone I'd ask).

I'm not allowed to smoke in my wife's Mercedes (which I pay for), I can only smoke in one room of my house (which I pay for), so my Ferrari is my own little escape and if I want to smoke in it I'm gonna.

Orwell's "Mini-truth" has been busy. (Interesting that the anti-tobacco lobby calls itself "truth" -- a maxi Mini-truth?) The yonker generation will jam pins through their navels, noses, or even eyelids, but have been sold that tobacco is Evil Incarnate.

(Whenever anyone tries to sell me "truth", I know they're ripping people off.)

I find it depressing and interesting that the primary profitable products of a young, successful United States -- Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms -- are all now considered "bad", by the "give up without trying" generation.

I see it at work: "We can't start, because we might encounter problems. Maybe we should go back to design, rather than proceed to building."

I'm developing a lot of respect for old cultures that forced their young to prove to themselves that they were able to overcome a challenge ("rite of passage") before being declared an "adult". Our culture, by that measure, has durn few adults.

The children of a "car crazy" generation are now content to sit in gridlock in plastic bodied SUVs -- built on trucks that cost a third what the SUVs pull from the "born to be fleeced" generation.

But sports cars are "bad", too. Racing is evil -- it gives you bad habits: like wearing safety belts and paying attention to your driving.

Apparently, anything associated with getting a life is now considered "bad". Success is "evil". Failure is "heroin chic". Gah.
War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ketchup is a vegetable.

When I see the trends in modern society, and speculate where it's headed, I don't see much incentive to quit smoking. Being mortal isn't so bad, if you don't want to watch society self-destruct.

Besides: The death rate among smokers is the same as for everyone else: One each.

(Metaphorically, though: "The coward dies a thousand deaths, the brave man only one.)

What's the point of living a long time, if you forget what living is for?

I couldn't care less if people want to smoke in their car. I don't think it's "bad" or "evil" (although I do think it's kind of foolish), but it does leave a nearly permanent odor in the car that I can't stand - especially cigars and pipe tobacco.

Many people here say that they will "never" sell their car, but most do eventually. There are many of us out here who wouldn't buy a "smoker" car just due to the lingering odor.

If you really plan to keep your car forever, smoke away - if not, plan to have the market for potential buyers cut drastically.

When it is my time to die...it's my time to die.

If I die smoking in my car...well...I probably hit a tree at over 150 mph and burst into flames!!

Oh yeah...but yes...I smoke in my car as it is about the only place a smoker can smoke these days without some freak yelling something about how I am killing them.

You see the thing about smoking is that when you smoke around other people you are sharing your vice-addiction-habit-illness-pleasure-relaxation, or what ever you want to call it with others. A lot of times the " others" aren't interested in sharing your whatever you call it. And some of us actually find it downright annoying and rude.
But back to the original question, I would not buy a car of any make that has been smoked in.

yeah i don't see good coming from forcing people to not do something, i'm all for people's personal freedom, but nobody should expect others around them to be happy if what you do affects their life negatively.

far as smoking's concerned, there's only 2 places where it's still allowed that i don't want it to be... on sidewalks: it's almost impossible to walk down the street without being in someone's cigarette slipstream and it's really annoying. also i don't want to smell it when i'm eating stuff, but for that i'll usually just go to places that are non-smoking.
