Tough to run a solo shop. He'll take square care of you, though.

I placed an order for a wheel installation/alignment tool on 11/22/04, and received an automated e-mail notice of the order status as "Processing." My credit card was charged the appropriate amount on 11/23/04. I requested an update on the order status/shipping by e-mail on 12/4/04. To date I have had no response, and have not received the paid-for product.

My order (also paid in full) is from 9-23-04 and I still don't have anything. Apparently, the problem was that he was receiving the incorrect part from Ferrari time after time. It took me a couple of months to find this out after several emails and PM's. Dave and I did eventually communicate through email for a few days and it looked like a solution had been reached but this was about a month ago and I haven't heard anything since. I have no doubts that he is a good person but this is certainly not good business.

    Augustine -

I'm local in his area. I have had trouble reaching him too - email seems down, website seems down. I tried his home telco number but no luck. Because I'm sure we're ALL concerned, I drove over to his house today and left a note in the mailbox.

I'm working some other angles too, and I'll let you know what/when I learn anything.

If you'd like to PM me directly, please feel free.

    Best Regards,
    Daniel

Jeez, what's next? Smoke signals at the end of his driveway? I hope you guys get this sorted out soon. This is not acceptable business for a sponsor on this board.

I've had excellent success with Dave in the past and would order from him again.

HOWEVER, if you are paying by credit card, you (and any merchant you deal with) should know that Mastercard and Visa both prohibit the passing of transactions against your card until the items have been shipped or the services performed unless you specifically agree at the time of the transaction to a delay in the shipment of goods or the performance of a service. So you could put a deposit down on a card to enable the merchant to special order an item, but it the merchant reports items "in stock", they must not charge your card until the item is shipped unless you specifically agree to allow a delayed shipment.

This is a basic requirement of the card associations (AMX and Discover probably have similar rules) and merchants can (and often are) banned from the network for violations of this rule.

    Cheers,

I'm going to chime in here.

Dave lives nearby, and I've been trying to reach him too for several weeks:

    1. Email to Sodacoms is returned with "mailbox full"
    2. Main Sodacoms website is down (www.sodacoms.com)
    3. Secondary website (www.sodacom1.com) is down
    4. Telephone calls to his cellular number go unanswered
    5. His MSN IM profile never seems to be on-line anymore.

I drove to his house last week and dropped a letter into his mailbox. I then called the home of one of his relatives, who told me, "Yeah, he got the letter -- he'll call you"

One week later, still no reply, no phone call.

    6. Did you folks realize the other Fchat sponsor "Freelife Pureblend" (The Goji juice people) is also run by Dave Soderquist? Email to that website also goes unanswered.

I'm going to put my cards on the table here: The letter I dropped into his mailbox was an offer to purchase all his open inventory and vendor/customer lists. Although there's no fortune to be made in Ferrari parts, I think good customer service and decent prices will ALWAYS have a home in this community. I guess I thought that if Dave was having financial troubles, he might respond to my "all cash" lifeline.

    No response.

I've met Dave several times. I want to confess, he's a really nice, decent guy. However, I can only assume that he has abandoned or closed the Sodacom's business. At this point, the damage to his reputation and that of Sodacom's is probably irreversible. I wonder what kind of contract Rob has for the Fchat ads?

If/when I hear from Dave, I'll certainly let people know.

    Best Regards,
    Daniel

I ordered a key blank from Sodacoms on Nov 7 and received it about a week later. Unfortunately, he sent the wrong key. He asked for pictures of the old and new key and indicated that he would send the right key, but haven't had any response since then. He seemed like an okay guy throughout the process until dropping out of sight, so I hope that all is well.

Doesn't sound like you guys can read the tea leaves. This guy is toast and out of business. If you have any $'s in the mill then put in a claim. If you are using a CC call and cancel the charge. Ask Rob to see if he is paying he ad bills.

Daniel I would go in with you on that one in a heart beat!!!

I have dealt with him before and also have some inside info but don’t want to post till I am sure.

Daniel Pm or email me cause we need to chat about it.

Also, what is it with the sponsors here? Most or stand up people, but the ones that are bad are REALLY bad! First Valence, now Soda? What’s up?

    Everyone -

Let's chill on this thread for a few days. I spoke with Dave tonight and have a scheduled meeting with him on Sunday morning.

I too placed an order in late NOV for a "must have" christmas present ($47 ferrari logo key blank). Despite "item shipped" email nothing ever arrived and my wife didn't get her present.
Multiple emails and phone calls as late as today have netted.....exactly no response.

Is he still in business or not? I suppose it doesn't really matter to me as I'll not buy anything from that company in the future.

What model is the key for? I ordered a logo key for a 3.2 Mondial from Sodacoms, but he sent the wrong blank. I'm not sure what the key he sent fits -- we weren't able to determine this before he went AWOL. If it fits your car, I'll just send it to you. If Dave ever comes back and honors his past obligations, he will send me the correct key, so it's pretty much a wash from my perspective. The attached photo shows the logo key I received and the Mondial key that doesn't match (sorry for the photo quality).
