    1. Where is the Fuse Box on a 83 400i?
    2. What is the best way to fix the window regulator on a 400i? mine keeps jumping the track.

    Thank you!

Uh you might want to double check that statement. 1983 should be under the foot well panel where the relays are.

Definately get an owners manual if you don't have one, spare parts cat. also very handy for IPB's/parts relationships/assy.

Dexter, it's not obvious. Lift the passenger side footwell carpet and remove the four (?) screws that hold down the sheet metal plate. Flip it over and there is the relay board and the fuse panels.

I struggled 3 weeks with my winder after a DPO ran the cables incorrectly and broke the clutch. I eventually learned a whole lot about the assembly but in any case it takes patience. Your problem may be minor.

First, can I assume you have one that works well and one that does not? If so remove both door panels and be sure your cables are strung correctly; they will be a mirror image. Your clutch is not broken since you have power to jump the track. My first guess is that the spring that tensions the "idler" pulley at the bottom center has gone a bit soft (or has gone missing, look in the door panel). Ferrari does not sell the spring separately, but most any hardware store has very similar springs for door closing devices. Just find one that is a bit stronger than yours and see how it goes. I actually keep a draw full of misc. springs in my parts bin and I added a small "helper" spring in addition to the old one. It has been working for a year.

If your cables are not strung correctly, get a helper with small hands and take your time and you can re-string the cable in a short time. If you have to remove the motor and winder and you have a door reinforcement bar in place, plan on spending a lot more time but it can be done with patience.
