I had my car out on friday night, beautiful drive in Sausalito with my wife after the car being off the road for months. We had dinner under the bridge - great evening. The next day, I went on a Ferrari drive with 20+ other Fcars - equally amazing. When I got home I was looking through the pics and noticed that my front bumper is out of whack. I looked a few pictures I took a few days ago and the bumper was ok, so it happened somtime in Sausalito last night. Sucks.

I guess its time for the MACarbon shortened tubes!!

These bumber shocks cant be fixed can they?

Same thing happened to my 308 last year. Make sure that your fans are still working...mine had stopped, so be careful.
You can remove the bumper and bang the energy absorber out yourself, so don't worry too much.
Before this happened to me, I was ready to buy the lightweight bumpers, since I don't like the way my bumpers stickk out, but I guess Ferrari knew what they were doing when they made it that way. That bumper saved me alot of body dammage I'm sure.

That does suck! So no note under your wiper? That's what I would've done. Probably someone uninsured or just an ******. Pushing the bumper that far in can't have gone unnoticed by the culprit.

That really stinks. It's people these days with the "more for me and who cares about you" mentality. Look on the bright side, now it forces you to do what you've really wanted.

    Good luck!

Whack both sides with a soft faced mallet, that let the bumper return to its original position.

Worked for me back about 1987.

You'd be surprised what SUV drivers can fail to notice (same incident, two sources):

In a 3 tonne SUV, while they've got a cigarette in one hand, their mobile phone in the other, the subwoofer booming our the latest garbage, and reversing while apparently using The Force (people don't look behind them any more) I'll bet there's a lot they wouldn't notice.

The modern driver is worse than inept. It's noticeably worse now than it was 10 years ago when I first got my license - so I can only imagine the frustrations of the conscientious who have been driving for longer than me.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Sometimes those shocks are dead and you can push them in and pull them out. Did you try simply pulling the bumper back out on that corner?

We used to fix those a couple of times a week. Did not even require removal of the bumper.

Yeah somebody sucks....they should have hit you square in the middle of the bumper. Then you would have the cheapest euro bumper conversion ever.

Exact same thing happened to me except it was my rear bumper.....and I saw the whole thing as I was sitting in the window of my local Starbucks. The driver started to drive off but I ran out there and she stopped once she knew she was busted. She apologized and took off her sunglasses and her eyes were dialated like I've never seen before - big as pizze pie pans. I think she was seriously on drugs. She didn't have insurance. So, I just said "no problem" and she drove off. Took the car home and adjusted the rear bumper (no damage) back to the right position and all's fine.

Some people just aren't all there when they're behind the wheel.

Any and all damage sucks..........but after the damage, let us measure the amount of "sucks". Thank God, the body was spared - thus, the suck factor is quite minimal.

    It's all relative :):):)

    Cheers, Hank

Gotta hate the old U.S. 5 mph bumper regulations - until something like that happens!

I saw some guy backing into my car and kept on pushing it as I watched from inside the restaurant. He was driving some big American sedan. I ran out and told him what he was doing, and he was oblivious. Good thing I had the park brake on very lightly so there was zero damage. After that, I think the solid US bumpers are a must have :).
