Spark Plugs

Just fitted a set of new spark plugs. Bosch Silver something. No jap crap here
only high quality from "das Vaterland".

By the way, bought some floor mats from Greg also. Special price and all that but they look nice. Especially since everything indoors is black these mats sort of lits it all up.

Will take some photos for you guys when the battery to the camera is charged.

You won´t get disappointed they look real nice in there.

If one is good more is better???

 

Yes. Primarily because the fire from the spark isn't shielded by the ground.

Look at the single ground spark plug above. Now picture the spark between the ground and the power. Notice how that spark is somewhat shielded by the single ground such that its light will cast a shadow over the center of the piston.

The 2 ground and and the 4 ground plugs (even the split ground on the competing Splitfire plugs) don't cast a shadow when the spark fires...as the center is open so that the flame isn't shielded.

Also, multiple grounds allow the spark to naturally choose the path of least resistance, which keeps a good spark for more miles as the ground electrode wears and as carbon buildups acrue.

In turn, that lower resistance over time (compared to a single ground plug) means lower amperage increases to get the required spark.

 

Got your point from the photo you showed. Just bought some similar to what wa already there. Had NGK before but wanted something better so I checked the Bosch homepage and they recommended these sparkplugs. I can get you the partnumber if you want. It was Bosch silver something. Which actually means the + pin is a thin silver wire.

Still owe you the photos from the floor mats, but i have been away for a few days. Went for a boat trip with a steamer from 1910. The engine was the original one from 1910 working with steam 2 cyl but converted from charcoal to diesel.

She made 10 knots. I can show you a film of the engine running but do not know how to put such a thread in here.

Like multiple blade razors, do you not expect to see 8 prong sparkplugs in our future?

 

While we are on spark plugs. Who makes the best wires out there for the 355? And of course they have to fit in that little thing a ma jig that fills the hole to bring them under the cover.

 

They only need to be 7mm to fit into "that little thing a ma jig" . I used kingsborne.

 

Kingsborne here too...but get the 7mm, I have the 8mm and it was a pain to get through that foam plug on the end of the cam cover. The Kingsborne are basically identical to the factory wires as they use oem Beru connectors on each end. Just tell them to use 7mm wire, and you are good to go.

I used 8mm too... I used a different seal/ method.
