I have 2 sets of speakers sitting at home, both with blown subwoofers.

Does anyone know if the subwoofers can be replaced? If yes, is it worthwhile? Just for your info; one set is Mirage, the other is Wharfedale.

Get some quotes to see if it's economical. Normally the cones and drivers can be replaced on most brands like Wharfedale easily enough.

    Get yourself a JL W7

They are not worth getting repaired.....you can check if there blown by putting a battery to the connections, if it moves your good

Try www.speakerex.com for general loudspeaker driver repair.

Mirage is still in business so call them directly http://www.miragespeakers.com to get a replacement/fix.

As for the Wharfdale's, depends on the vintage as to where to go. When were they made?

As for the guy who suggested just throw in a JL Audio (or any driver), it does not work that way. There are sensitivity, resistance, etc that need to be matched for the loudspeaker to have proper output as it was designed.

A lot of speaker manufacturers buy parts from common suppliers, drivers included. Check to see if a custom sound/speaker dealer near you has the ones in your speakers. With today's custom home theater installers, a lot of off the cuff designs are simply incorporating drivers into on-site built in recessed cabinet. Just swapping an 8 inch driver for the blown one is likely not to match the original design. The difference may not be noticeable, but then again it might be.
