How to get the starter out?

We have to do some preventive maintenance on the starter and solenoid of our E series Dino GT from October 1971.

After we have disassembled the rear left wheel inner section/shield, the cover/shield inside the boot between the engine and luggage area and finally the heat shield on the rear exhaust manifold, it was possible to disassemble the starter and solenoid from the fixture, but the starter seem to be still just a little too long to get out of its fixture and we need more space between the starter and the exhaust manifold.

Our next step might be to disassemble the rear exhaust manifold and to move it away somewhat to get the starter out, but the question is whether that effort would be enough to get the starter out and/or whether there is another way?

All suggestions are welcome and thanks in advance,

    Best regards Robin.

I had to remove the rear exhaust manifold to get the starter out on my E-series. Actually it wasn't that hard to do. As I recall it doesn't need to be physically removed from the car just unbolt it from the head, undo the clamp on the silencer end and move it out the way to slide the starter out. I do remember the starter being surprisingly heavy though.
