Actually can't engage at all. It doesn't happen everytime I begin driving nor does it happen continually until the engine warms. I did read that the F1 had a clutch engagement problem in these gears when cold. My car has 8600 mi. with the clutch replaced at 5000mi. Could this mean the 1st and 2nd gear synchronizers need replacing? The warranty stops next month, so I need to act soon. Any ideas? Steven
sounds like the shifter is out of adjustment. Have that checked first. if you want to you can check the side adjustment (which i think is out) very easily. place the shifter in fourth gear, remove the shifter gate held on by the two screws. then move the shifter side to side leaving it in the fourth gear. the lever should move equal amount left or right. if it moves more to one side than the other it is out of adjustment. best regards, Jim
