I have removed the black "glue" from my F430 interior door handles & window rocker switches using isopropanol alcohol & it looks great!
I now need to clean the Hazard & Parking Lights buttons.
QUESTION: will I lose the script on these buttons if I clean these the same way?

Interesting. You mean one specific for plastics?

Thanks, thats very helpful. What I need to be sure of is that I don't remove the script when removing the "black glue". I hear that some scripts on the buttons are etched in, so are permanent, whilst others are just painted & I risk erasing them....ooops!

Again, the sticky on these buttons is not black, but clear. Under the clear is black paint. The letters are etched with a white translucent, over clear plastic for back lighting. While you’re cleaning off the clear soft touch at the top layer of the switch, if you start seeing black paint, do not clean any further.

The black paint at that point can get into the lettering, which can be cleaned with a fine tip swab. When you’re finished cleaning the clear soft touch off of the button, apply a flat clear aerosol or airbrush applied paint.

The sticky coating on the older buttons is NOT the same as the sticky coating on the newer buttons. Be careful - Stripping parts from a 550 versus a 458 is total different procedure
