Storage Question

It's starting to get cold here in Alberta so my driving season is coming to an end. I bought an enclosed trailer to store the car in which will also be kept indoors. My question is, should I leave the e-brake on or use a couple straps to keep the car in place while it sits over the winter. If I leave the e-brake on will this be stretching the cables for to long or am I looking at this wrong?

 

I would not use the e-brake as besides stretching the cables the pads may rust to the rotor. Straps would work better.

 

The best thing you could do is to ship it to me. I promise to drive it every day and keep the battery charged.

 

Do not engage the ebrake.
Mostly because the friction matterial can absorb moisture and block the wheels.
These pads are a pain to change and although its a 60 euro part dealers charge insane money for them.

 

Can't you just chalk a wheel? Easier to pull the thing out in case you want to drive it on a day when the road is bone dry.

 

Agree with above.. don't ebrake it. Use chocks or other means to keep in place..

Yeah, same here, use a chock.

Also, and if you want to be really particular, think about parking on top of 4 squares of SM foam insulation. With time, the SM foam compresses and takes on the exact shape of the tire. This is a nice helping hand for keeping the tires fully round. It's possibly overkill, but certainly doesn't do any harm.
