Hey all, What's the best way to store a bottle of 20 year Tawny? Our house gets fairly warm since we have steam heat and we get lots of direct sun in the kitchen. That being said, I put the bottle that I just opened tonight in the fridge to keep it out of harmful light rays and to keep it at a cooler temperature. I'd say on average, a bottle will stick around for a week--maybe two, before it has been finished. Advice? Cheers, Aaron
I find port lasts longer if you use one of those vaccuum type cork sealing gadgets. I keep mine in a dark cabinet at room temperature though.
After sucking the air out, I stick mine in the wine fridge. If the wine fridge is full or if I fear leakage, it goes upright in the fridge. I don't store any wine or beer at room temp cause I live in the tropics and room temp can be anywhere from 75 to 95 degF, worse yet, it can go from 75-95 and back in a single day! http://www.ehow.com/facts_7462777_optimal-temperature-port-wine.html
