Just had an offer accepted on a house in Stuart. Have visited Stuart for the day a few times but don't know the area well. South of Juipiter I know real well.

    Any thoughts ideas suggestions.

Yep, I'd say it's a pretty mellow town....Curious how you happened to come by it as a place to live... .Absolutely a boating place and a sport fish place, but not so sure about the water-skiing... Just haven't seen any on the rivers, but I'm not saying it isn't there..Prob. more likely north of where you are on the river.. Certainly some decent food but I guess it depends on where you're coming from and expectations...I have seen a few Fcars around, but not like south FL. PM me your number if you'd like to talk.

Stuart is ok. Port Salerno is a nice place to eat. You're a short drive to Hobe Sound beach which is fabulous. I don't think there are many skiers on the rivers anywhere in FL. There is a waterski park in West Palm, Okeeheelee Park.

Stuart is a fisherman’s paradise! :) It’s gotten more crowded since I lived there but it’s still pretty laid back. If you are looking for foo foo restaurants and club like experiences you’ll hate it. It’s more a flip flop tiki bar type vibe.

I suppose you could water ski in the river but with boat traffic and giant bull sharks I’m not so sure I’d want to. All the times I’ve fished there I have never seen anyone doing it.

I would also do some serious research into the Lake Okeechobee water dumps and algae blooms. That is a very contentious issue in that town and can really turn your dream waterfront property into a nightmare if they don’t stop the discharges.

Oh, as I tell everyone, welcome to Florida! Please vote red and don’t ruin it. ;)

    Yeah no worries,
Im telling the few blue friends to stay in their poo up north, cant vote one way and then move.
PB county is crazy expesive for waterfront now, and Stuart reminds me of Lantana 40 years ago.
Pretty much everyhting from Jupiter south is like the hamptons, lame.

    Bull sharks?

Bull sharks commonly roam the river. Ive seen some giant ones in there. They are aggressive in murky water when there is bait around

Never forget the time I saw one fishing a dock off of Sewells Point. Just as I was about to leave the owners got back and asked if I caught anything. When I told them about the shark they mentioned they won’t be swimming off their dock anymore.

Sean....Not sure if you have met DonB. He lives in [or near Stuart] and is a fellow BBi owner. His car is a multiple Cavallino and FCA platinum winning car. He also just won the Best Flat 12 award at the most recent Cavallino. He is on this forum if you want to reach out to him once you are settled. Welcome to FL!!

Hey Boxerman, SCantera is right. DonB lives in North River Shores with a platinum BBi. I live in the Four Rivers community in Palm City about 10 minutes away from North River Shores and I also own a BBi.

Hey Boxerman..welcome to NRS. We've lived in Stuart for 27 years. Moved here from Hibiscus Island in Miami. Decided it was time to move north to America.
Yeah, it's a quiet town alright but the people are nice. They do things like say please and thank you...the parking spaces are actually big enough for a car to fit into. And yes there are several very good restaurants here.
You'll find NRS extremely convenient for daily living too. All the necessities are about 10 minutes away. AND, most importantly, it's a real car guy town...lots going on.
PM me and we'll get acquainted (sounds like a dating site)!

    Welcome to the neighborhood

Sounds like all the reasons we moved, America it is. NRS seemd very similar in vibe to our neighbourhood in NW Ct, were keeping the pace there, NY is done and gone.

Didnt realize Stuart was car guy town, but it makes sense.

Quiet happy and polite is good.
